we have a dip in January/February though. Last season was an exception, or Lucho's fitness.

It's hard to imagine that, circumstantially, the start to the 2nd half of the season will be as bad as the 1st. Barca started this season with 2 4-0 losses, the worst defensive spell since the Tata era, a phenomenally unlucky injury streak, and poor attacking form. We bounced back from that and are now top of the league. Our circumstances entering the 2nd half of the season look much, much better especially with the extra reinforcements.

Don't dismiss the fact that Arda and Vidal are joining. We'll have Vidal as our sub in attack (much much better and more dynamic than Sandro/Munir) and Arda likely starting over Rakitic and upgrading our starting 11. Increased squad depth and increased peak capacity, not to mention that we historically improve in the second half.

1) You are correct about Arda. Most probably.

2) I am not so sure about Vidal. I hope I am wrong.

3) Increased depth. 100% correct.

4) We historically peak up in the 2nd half. Absolutely true.

5) I would also add that we have not yet had the chance to really field our nuclear trident much this year. I think that will be the big difference maker in all competitions by the 2nd half of the season.

We will play Villarreal away in late March and we will probably drop points there too.

The eternal pessimist Luft. Did we drop any point at all against Villareal last season ? we've faced them 4 times and didn't loose a single time, not even a draw, so predicting a loss there is far fetched.

It's lucky that Real are sucky this season.

At least it might help keep the team on its toes better than if we built an unassailable lead in the league the way Bayern do.

Of course, there's still Atletico. And they should be our main concern now.

Espanyol coach Sergio Gonzalez has been sacked. He's the 5th coach to leave this Liga. Espanyol are 12th with 17 points

FFS, always right before we play them. Just as with Valencia. A couple of weeks more was all we needed.
