Better man-marking of course. It's very hard to get open headers from corners, especially if you're playing a good team.

Doesnt explain why Ramos/Pepe constantly get headers from corners, when Ronaldo rarely does.

Because in my mind they are better at heading the ball under heavy marking. Ronaldo's very good at tricking the marker and heading from open space usually, but at corners, there are many bodies around the ball, so this movement ability is not as importand as knowing how to pull and make room for a header with very little space available.

Ronaldo has the chance to get open headers in general play because of his off the ball movement. There is not much he can do in a corner where it is much easier to see his movement. Minus that with ramos it is almost impossible.

Nobody ever marks him from open play. When they do he just throws himself to the ground looking for Penaldo.

Yea, exactly. And also, you can see that defenders are the ones who usually score at set pieces. Mathieu, Pique for us, Ramos, Pepe for Real, Kompany for City, Chiellini for Juve and so on. Vidic for United in the old days, Terry for Chelsea, Vermaelen for Arsenal several years back and so on and so forth.
