Let's say the Coronavirus outbreak in Spain can't be stopped but in France everything is under control, why should Ligue 1 not be played while La Liga is still suspended. European Leagues are under their respective government and the public health is the biggest concern.

It was to be expected. Last game of PSG was cancelled already due to an outbreak in the region of our opponent. You can say the situation is similar to Italy. We are kinda following their steps in the implementation of restriction or quarantine because the situations are evolving in the same way while being more advanced in Italy.

Government and sporting bodies were reluctant until they could do nothing but enforce quarantine.

Aulas (OL president), as smart as he is, is already advocating for the season to be voided (not a surprise as his team is dogshit and far from Europe qualification spots) and that the same teams that have qualified last year should be in Europe next year. Would suck for us as we would lose another title (the 1993 should be de facto PSG title as OM was punished for bribing/cheating but no one has been crowned that season).

Apparently La Liga wants to resume the competition on April 23. If not then, then beginning of May.
Delusional. There is no way this virus will disappear by end of April and even if it does get better, how is it okay for players and staff to travel all around a country where the virus is everywhere. not to mention, the 90k+ fans that might fill the stadium.

Same with the UCL in which they expect to be played in late May and June. Not going to happen.

They seem to just want to try and fulfill some kid of TV rights agreement more so than trying to fill stadiums. Tebas is about exposure outside of Spain rather than in the country itself. What's encouraging is that he's in minority TBH. If the clubs don't want to play in the face of country's lockdown, then they won't play, just like they didn't go US to play the league game, no matter what Tebas wants to happen.

If he says right way: La Liga is done 100%, lots of sponsors would cancel their contracts TODAY.
This way, if he is offering hope, lots of sponsors will stay at least for a few more weeks...
So, La Liga will earn more Millions this way.

There will be no leagues, no CL, no Euros, no Copa America, no Olympic games.
And every single concert, movie and every single happening in Europe and USA will be cancelled in the next 2-3-4-5-6 Months.

But, you see, they have to "act" as if there is a chance...

Look at Wuhan, are they playing football matches of going to movies right away?
Of course not.
So, if we won't beat the virus=we surely won't have any events.
If we will eventually beat the virus, it will take Months until things will return to a some kind of normal.

The more likely scenario is:
1. no matches will be played this season
2. and even the next season will be postponed for a few weeks/months.
And there is a chance that even then, if sporting events will start, that they will be played behind closed doors for some time.

Now Espanyol has confirmed they have 6 infected. Only a matter of time before there will be confirmed cases in other clubs as well.

RFEF have actually suggested what I partly suspected - there's little to no chance to squeeze 11+- 6 matches by August, let alone June and keep 20/21 the same. Rubiales confirmed they're suggesting playing out 19/20 and cutting 20/21 accordingly to suit all clubs.

Seems like it's 20/21 that will be very different to this season, because what is underway cannot be changed midway through. But the manner in which next season happens is up in the air so they'll make alterations to suit the calendar.

Just play 20/21 starting in November and slash the amount of fixtures by changing the format. I'd have all 20 teams play each other once (19 games, 4.5 months), then transition into championship + relegation round style (10 games, home & away depending who you played where in the first part) and cap it off with Final Four/Bottom Four for title & relegation. Circa 33 games to play in 7 months. Plus shorter cup competitions.

Leagues will have to be shorter next season. Or something will, if not 20/21 league, then this season (which they already said they want to play out as is). Absolutely no doubt about it.

If Tebas moans he's losing out on sponsors/TV deals then tough luck. There's no way clubs will agree to go back to playing until we know the virus is out of circulation and won't reinfect people again.

How would they cut next season's schedule? One solution is only having 18 teams in La Liga instead of 20 so this would mean 4 rounds less. But this would be too drastical change for just one season and I also doubt clubs (especially those most affected by this change who would get relegated) would agree. Less total games would also mean less money which neither the league nor the clubs want. Another option is cancelling CDR next season and playing midweek La Liga fixtures when clubs would usually play Copa games. This would probably be the best solution.

Or do like some leagues with less teams are doing. Play first half of the season (19 games) and then "cut" the league in two halfs. First 10 teams play for the title/European competitions and bottom 10 against the relegation. If every team would play against each opponent in this second half just once the season would have only 28 rounds. But making a fair schedule here would be almost impossible.

The solution I like the most is removing CdR next season. Feels like the easiest one as well.
But it's highly dependant on what's going to happen before this summer.
