Gerard was not trusted really any more than he was about only option to have as LB cover.

There was no money to even register Olmo until injuries happened and had to pay Gundogan to leave. Not even the money to promote Valle.

Gerard is a massive risk and if Balde goes down it would mean team set up has to change most likely.
