Surely 30 minutes would be more sensible seeing as he's one booking away from a Yellow. Just doesn't seem worth the risk to me.

Dont agree and even then there needs to be trust on players not to get second yellow and why risk 30 mins if that is the focus.

Pedri has played not even two 90 mins in last two weeks.

Doesn't even have to be anything stupid La Liga refeeres can hand out soft yellow cards. Plus De Jong has played 3x 90 minutes for the NT. Just seems to a risk not worth taking with a more challenging and important game coming up.

I have a feeling its going to be a tough game because they usually are after an international break. Also messi hasn't played in over 2 weeks and while this would help him years ago I think he is better these days with only a few days off between games

Good luck benching Messi at home against Valladolid after being rested for 2 weeks. Don't want to be in Koeman's place if things go wrong that way.

Koeman already stated more than once that he doesn't care about suspensions or injuries, as someone else will play who has all of his trust to do well. If De Jong and Pedri don't show signs of fatigue, they should play. Players still have one day more rest than Madrid.
