Villarreal is very good both in terms of the quality of play and the level of players. Marcelino with his favorite 4-4-2 formation.

This team is definitely stronger than Monaco. I hope that there will be no early red cards for either us or Villarreal and we will see what this team is capable of against such a good opponent.

Are they really that good? Celta had them tweaking at Ceramica, 100 min penalty from Parejo was necessary to win. Two last minute winners from Ayoze against Sevilla and Mallorca too. Draw vs Valencia...

We mostly had easier wins than expected over Villareal.

The exception being their win over Xavi's Barca in January 2024, which practically ended the season for us.

I'd also hand Victor a start, definitely. Even if Lewa was performing good, which is not the case, he's old af and probably needs some rest as well.

But definitely wouldn't start Eric again. Would much rather have one of Torre/Raphinha on AM and Ansu on the wing.
