Lautaro Martinez

I still have a feeling we aren't really in for him this summer but use his name to work on other transfers away from media.

I really hope you're right but I doubt. Robert Fernandez was pretty good at keeping cards close to his chest. IIRC we've signed Umtiti, Digne and Gomes "out of nothing" (Paco was a different story but more because of the mess at Valencia at that time) while other players were still heavily linked to us in the media on the day we've announced those signings. Yeah, we've had mixed success with Robert's signings (like with basically every other SD) but I miss him. Abidal didn't show the same abilities so far. Nowadays our top transfer targets are known in the media for weeks or even months before we try to sign them which only drive up their price so no wonder we've overpaid for Dembele and Coutinho after their prolonged transfer sagas and the same will happen with Lautaro.

So I would be very happy (and even more surprised) if we're just using Lautaro as a smoke screen and are actually working on other transfers, preferably on improving the defense and midfield.

Scored 1 goal from the last 18 shots.

Can't wait until he starts missing sitters left and right for us on every game.

Still hope we go for Edouard. When you look at a striker who fits a Barcelona profile yet is completely under the radar, it is him.

Lautaro is going to be way too expensive for the ROG (Return of Goals), Inter don't want to sell. He is a 40-50m post Covid-19 market player.

I like him as a player, but I'm sceptical about him being the right choice. Right now he is not putting up the numbers he should to be anything worth near 110M.

I doubt any club will steal him this summer if Bar?a doesn't sign him. It would be better to give him another year in Milan and reevaluate then if he is a good fit or if we should rather sign a natural goalscorer like Haaland.

It's way too risky to blow another 100M to sign a player who might become the next big thing. Not that they did a great job with already proven players like Griezmann or Coutinho.

He has a similar goal record to Eto'o and Villa at 22, ya'll too harsh

Interesting stat tbh.

Only counting goals in top divisions:

Eto'o (until and incl. 03-04 season)
173 games
70 goals
0,40 per game

Villa (until and incl. 03-04 season)
46 games
21 goals
0,46 per game

Lautaro
127 games
52 goals
0,41 per game

Villa cost Valencia 12M in 2005, Eto'o cost Barcelona 27M in 2004. No idea how much that'd be worth today.
