It is impossible to tell from outside how Marquez is in the dressing room/tactically etc really.

The one advantage of him for a year would be peanuts of a salary.. hopefully which could then be put back into playing side of it and FFP.

Would guess that will be a consideration.. would Marquez/Conceciao be prepared to take on the opportunity for low/modest salary for a year.

Particulalry if they get the slightest nod Klopp would be interested.

But Klopp to Real makes more sense.. he chased Bellingham and Mbappe for long enough and will get his chance to work with those type of players.

The one thing that may be an advantage is if Klopp sees his style of motivation more suited to the underdogs and players with more to prove.. that and if his wife wants to be by the beach.

Same with Haaland he like Jammy has a second home in Marbella and the beaches there are far closer to what will find in Barcelona than Madrid.. if that is a factor for him if leaves City in next few years.

There's a disagreement between Laporta and Deco. The former wants Flick, meanwhile Deco thinks Conceição is the choice. [@fansjavimiguel]

His football looks nice tough

Makes a team like Brighton with mediocre players, apart from Mitoma and the gones Caicedo Mcalister, play like that...
To make it more clear for the people who want to see it: makes a team with mediocre players dominate with the ball against top teams that have a million times better squads.
Now imagine giving him the raw material Barca has

Yes, truly horrible coach.

Worth noting about De Zerbi that he won the Ukranian Cup and was top of the Ukranian League before Covid hit. So not the pressure of Barca obviously, but when he was at a top team in their own league, he matched expectation.

There is back lash in every EPL team for bad results and 'mid table' clubs feel that as much as any as the threat or relegation is a huge for a club.

Folk accept some poor results as understand the job he has done to date.

From the football we have seen the last 10 years by them, my list would be:
1. De zerbi
2. Nagelsman
3. Flick
4. Michel
5. Slot
6. Imanol
7. Gallardo
8. Conceicao - Amorin tie
9. Motta

That's based on the work shown. Of course, a serious club (unlike Barca) has to assess lot of other factors as well, like age, training methods, character/personality, dressing room stuff, etc

Of course I have excluded people like Pep Klopp and Arteta, who people daydream about but ain't coming.
I have also excluded good coaches like Inzaghi, who are not coming either for different reasons
I have finally excluded top coaches like ETH and Poch that are unavailable now. If they become available later, I will update my list

Conceicao will be free agent on July 1, 2024. One of the reasons, if not only, Conceicao is in the discussion.

If you look at the EPL and compensations paid for managers in recent years, you'll see figures around 15-20m like Chelsea went for Graham Potter. De Zerbi won't come for cheap for sure. His contract runs out in June 2026.

Putting emotions and preferences aside, analysing the situation at the club I'm more and more convinced Barca will opt for a jobless manager or Rafa Marquez. Arteta and De Zerbi are off the list in my mind. Of course there could be some special clauses "let me go for 1$ when Real Madrid come asking".

Exactly. We can barely afford signings of players; how on earth will we be able to pay the transfer fee of a manager plus his salary and backroom staff! 😅

the likes of Flick, Conceicao, or Marquez seem realistic at this point.

Everyone bar Klopp is a bit of a risk, but there are far better risks than De Zerbi that the club should take.

Gallardo, Slot, Amorim, Spagletti are the options I would prefer to Arteta, Tuchel, Flick, De Zerbi, Nagelsmann, Mourinho.

The first 4 managers are managers who did great in their present/last job. The next 5 are, in my opinion, managers who have done poorly, in their last jobs.

Not rocket science.
How has De Zerbi done poorly? He is coaching Brighton and not some top tier club FFS. Arteta also did a very good job last year.

De Zerbi is rated within the City group. Was told that years ago when he was in Italy.

Now that can only mean so much but they also rated Ange etc from back in his Japan days.

That is the City group that has a lot of input from Barcas most succesful period.
