Waw.. it's official, Marseille is hitting new bottoms .. Lorient ? 3 - 5 at home ?

What happened to this team ? :/

From fighting to get into the Champions League to hardly looking like they'll make Europa League .. 4th loss in a row, unbelievable.

They were top of the table at some point IIRC

They lead for much of the first half of the season, even being crowned winter champs. Their 2015 has been horrific though, their makeshift defense being the primary cause of a lot of their problems. Should have held onto Doria.

it's for the best. I can't recall when was the last time france sent three teams as strong as PSG, Monaco and Lyon to the CL.

Best part is all three clubs are very young. If they manage to hold onto their players they should be relevant on in continental competitions for years to come. Shame Marseille have fallen so hard, would like to see them win the Europa spot. Think they could have some success there.

Fekir wants to stay at Lyon:

"I feel very good here. There is everything in Lyon, my family, my friends," said Fekir, who made his France debut against Brazil last month. "The staff and my teammates have confidence in me. We have a young squad, there's a great atmosphere. That's also what makes us strong right now.

"I want to stay at Lyon to build on my season, while hoping that we qualify for the Champions League. There is everything for me to stay in Lyon, it's the club of my heart. I want to help it go as high as possible.

"I hope I'll be a Lyon player next season. There's no reason I won't be. I'm still a young player, I need to progress in an environment where I feel good. There is everything in Lyon."

Perhaps Bertus can translate the good parts when he has time.

It's a couple weeks old now, but I've been meaning to post this article on Lacazette as well:

He has been linked with a summer move to the likes of Arsenal, Manchester and Liverpool, but told Le Progres newspaper: "It's too early to say if I'll have opportunities abroad. It's always going to be a question of a sporting choice because financially I'm already earning enough in my life...

To make my entire career at Lyon doesn't bother me as long as they continue to have the development and ambition to have a competitive team, even if we're not certain to win the Champions League. That's not a problem."

Another on wonderkid Anthony Martial of Monaco:

Even within the context of AS Monaco FC's rising stars, the emergence of 19-year-old forward Anthony Martial stands out. Having scored a solitary goal last year, he is already up to ten in 2015, and by the end of his side's run to the UEFA Champions League quarter-finals he was a regular starter. He discusses his emergence, comparisons with Thierry Henry and pitting his wits against Europe's elite.

UEFA.com: You moved to Monaco from Olympique Lyonnais in 2013: how have you developed as a player?

Martial: The first season was difficult. In the first six months I didn't play at all – I just played a few games with the reserves. But during that time I worked a lot on the physical and mental aspects of my game, and I think that's helped me to be where I am now at Monaco.

There is a lot of talent here. There are many talented young players, which allows us to improve game by game. I hope we continue like this – and some new talents will shine in front of the whole of Europe...

Meaning he will leave this summer.

I don't think it'll be this summer as Lyon actually has a good thing going. They're opening a new stadium, will be playing in the CL with a highly competitive squad of local youngsters, and will benefit from record broadcasting deals penned in 14-15 and debuting in 2016. In addition, they have the 2016 Euro's to look forward to, a competition for which Lacazette hopes to represent France. His best chance at doing so is logging consistent minutes as the focal point of a competent attack, and that's no certainty at a top foreign side. If he does leave, I predict it to be a season or few from now to a club the quality of Real, Barca, Bayern. Moving this summer to lesser sides ala Arsenal, Man U, Liverpool, etc, would be a lateral move at best.

Bear in mind, the emergence of Paris and Monaco has inspired competition in Ligue 1 that previously didn't exist. The addition of stars has brought success and notoriety(Ibra, Silva, Falcao), and out of that has birthed new, more fruitful revenue streams. Clubs aren't as keen to sell their prospects anymore in hopes of finishing atop the table in an effort to qualify for Europe, and when they do sell, they're finding French buyers at a greater frequency than before as was the case with Martial, Aurier, Digne, Thauvin, and others. In fact, Bordeaux is another club plotting the path of Lyon, and to a lesser degree, Monaco. Still a sellers league to be sure, but things are slowly but surely changing for the better.
