Lionel Messi - v7

I'm going to inform you that people body age differently, oh wait in your universe human body are all the same

To be completely fair, many top athletes spend a lot of money on their fitness team (separate from the club fitness team). Lebron spends $1.5 mill a year on his team, Quarterback Russell Wilson spends $1 mill a year, and I'm sure CR7 spends a lot of money too. In this day and age, it's entirely possible to change your physical capabilities even if you have bad genetics. There have been a lot of advances in this science in the past ten years.

It's very clear to me that Messi spends probably no more than $20k a year on his fitness team outside of Barca. He's just not as physically efficient as other top athletes. It's also very clear by his insistence to play every match whereas the above athletes have a team that consults them on what to do to ensure the best for them.

I'd like to see him coming on as a half time sub more often. 45 minutes without him and 45 minutes with him giving 100% could be better than 90 minutes of him at 70-80%.

it's not every day we're going to play against naive sides like betis who are willing to trade blows with us. even so, we were drawing against them at half time and still looked shaky against 10 men. so this fantasy that we're keeping our best player on the bench, only for him to play 45 minutes won't work.

we were shit in offense with fati providing something. imagine us now without him, griezmann still being shit and dembele hot and cold.

what I hope is that he will be administered with more intelligence, but within a well-established system, where if he does not play, someone can play in the same role (Griezmann?). So you don't have to constantly change the team's DNA.
A bit like As Roma does with Edin Dzeko, who does not play useless games, but is replaced within a proven system.

@serghei et al are you going to address this article? Messi being the dictator of barcelona has massively hinged on this Martino thing and here we have it. Come on guys be fair.

It was told by Zubizaretta. Martino is probably mad it got out and is trying to deny it since it doesn't look good on him. Nothint to see here, Zubizaretta made public a secret from inside the team, and when you do that, there will be a lot of denying no doubt.

Zubizarreta had absolutely no reason to lie. He was a club official at the time of the highest order. Not some journo trying to make a name of himself by making up stuff.

Maybe, but also maybe not, which is exactly the point you're missing. It's unclear whether it's true. One person has said it is and the person who supposedly spoke the words says they did not. It's not enough to be used to crucify a player. That is the point.

No, that's not the point. I just gave you a perfectly reasonable reason for why Martino has all the interest to deny it. Now give me a reasonable reason for why Zubizaretta would make up something like that.

Not really though, god it's pointless with you. I don't know why he'd say that tbh. But there we go again, I don't know. A respectable person in the club wouldn't say something to throw Messi under the bus like that so there could easily be some weird reason he said it.
