Lionel Messi - v7

I was never mad at Messi in previous years.
But lately he has really dumb and weird decisions.

I won't even mention walking and not defending.
But he is really killing our attacks now.

In the last 3 matches without him, the whole team was flying.
All players moved around a field freely and passed freely. They had several passing options.

After 10 minutes of this match, I have said to myself: I can't watch this.

When Messi is on a field, our players turn into braindead zombies who are afraid of him, who can't pass freely anymore.

Messi takes every ball, slows down and plays some stupid hero balls.

Remember how all teams played parked buses against us in post-TikiTaka days.
And later we figured out that they are parking a bus due to our slow buildup and sterile passing around the box, so the opponents don't have any other option.
So, it was not their CHOICE to park a bus, it was a product of our GAME.

Lately I think that Messi is a huge reason why we are slow in a build up and attack and why teams are parking a bus.

Imagine a match without Messi:
= if Cou has a counter, he will release a pass fast to Braith or Griezz.
And we will shoot 10 seconds later.

The same action with Messi on a field: Cou can't play a fast pass. He needs to slow down and pass to Messi. Braith and Griezz won't get the ball behind the defence in a counterattack.
Messi will slow down, dwell on a ball, wait until the opponent parks the bus and then he'll try a hero looped through ball to Alba or some weird, illogical shit.
Once out of 10 attempts, that pass will work and some fans will say: but but but he had 2 key passes.

Yes, he did.
But he lost like 18 other balls, killed counters, killed the movement from our attackers etc.

He is ruining majority of actions and his decisions are quite dumb lately.

People laughed at Kiev and Ferenc.
We could have scored 10+ easy goals in 2 matches without Messi.

But when Messi returned against a mighty Cadiz, we play worse and slower than ever.

You don't need to be a Sherlock to figure out some patterns and why do we suck lately.

Do you think his onfield performance is on par with 07-08 Ronaldinho?

When opposition does an interview saying Messi is the best player in the world and BLAH BLAH BLAH we usually end up losing.

If casual fans can spot out how awful Messi is I wonder what professional managers and analytic teams say about him lmfao.

I can do an amateur analysis. Score 1 goal and watfh Messi lower his head scratch his chin and walk around aimlessly the entire .

He played well yesterday but the problem are the other players who always pass the ball to Messi when they get it in the midfield. This slows down our gameplay too much. Messi should be near the box to receive the ball and make the final pass or shoot.

Yeah other players automatically look for Messi which slows down the attack. Its easy to regroup for opppnents. Griezmann and Coutinho are too similairas well.

Alba and Busquets are the worst with this. Always look for Messi so opponents easily intercept the pass.

I absolutely disagree. You can't EVER reach the level Messi did if you are not hardworking and 100% dedicated. You are talking a complete and utter nonsense. Messi wants it as much as Ronaldo but they are different in many ways. What Leo did in his prime Ronaldo can only dream about. The amount of disrespect some people are showing towards the best player of all time and the icon of the club is unbelievable.

We all agree that it's best for all sides to go separate ways after this season but a true Barca fan would never write things you do on a daily basis. Expecting from a 34y old guy to perform lime he did in his twenties is laughable. He brought this club way more trophies than anyone before him. Of course he didn't do it alone, no one can. This is a team sport remember? He was the best of the best and he deserves more respect from a Barca community even in his decline.

Absolutely agree but you are talking to someone who resents Messi for not winning him more CL-trophies.

This. Thaths why its so easy to defend us when Messi is on the pitch but why our coach doesnt see it ??

Messi as a player is not a problem but Messi as a system is, notice how we play with Messi on the field: NFL style, he becomes QB, comes deep for the ball and looks for someone to pass for touchdown. But it's not just that we are not playing our style great anymore, teams have adapted! It's incredible how we refuse to see that! We basically destroyed teams in those in-between spaces, our players used those spaces great. There are no more those spaces, especially when we play all 20 players in one half of the field.
We run much less then Bayern and got angry because of that, this year we run as much as opponents and there is still no improvement, and yet we change nothing - pass i to Messi and hope for great ball in 99% of the casses to Alba. Even when we cross we cross to the standing players in the box, that's easy for defenders to defend. Try rewatch yesterday's game, pause every time and picture yourself as a player, you'll find NO SPACE!

The days of Messi dropping to midfield and playing one-twos to get up the pitch to create a shot for himself are over.

He was good for 45 minutes, but everything wrong with current day Messi was shown in the one action where he took the ball out of Griezmann's feet and shot it himself. He is playing for himself.
