Lionel Messi - v7

Messi haters caught a big L in 2021, no doubt.

I admit, I had my doubts he was in a steep decline (would never actually be a full blown hater since Messi is Messi after all) but he's shutting everyone up.

Just to put things in perspective:

Messi has now surpassed Cristiano Ronaldo in scoring non-penalty goals during their careers: 636 vs 635

Messi did this in 910 appearances, Cristiano in 1,054 appearances

would be nice, but no way messi gets it over lewa who will finish with 50+ goals and a CL

The CL is likely but not guaranteed. Just like the league isn't guaranteed for Messi. I do think winning LL has much more value than winning Bundesliga, although CL of course trumps both. Let's see what happens in May/June.

Im really out of my words for this man.
Proof that the early season was just non technical problems (motivation, anger) and about the new players to join the barca system.

If Barca win LL and CDR, and he win pichichi, which depends to atletico performance as well, and Argentina could win copa america 2021 (difficult but lets see), then he could get that seventh. Definitely. GOAT finally having a senior national prize is a better story than anyone winning UCL. Any day. That is definite. Tough chance but if he could manage that i don't think he mind to really retire from football after all of that.

you maybe don't care but voters will do for sure, especially considering lewandoski was robbed last year. messi has chance if he wins copa america.

Voters are Messi/CR biased in general. Give them a double and Pichici and that's all the alibi they need.

Not that they wouldn't be right in this case, mind you.

Still a level above any other player in the world at almost 34 yo.

Glad to see the ungrateful bastards being shut up.

Voters vote by taking into consideration WC/Euro/Copa mostly, and UCL every other year. A domestic double doesn't mean much when journalist are voting, malvolio's thinking about the Fifa Ballon d'or, where players and coaches were voting and kept giving it to Messi/CR.

That being said, if no major player wins a NT trophy AND a surprise happens in UCL AND Barca wins LL, Messi has a shot. But that's a lot of "ifs", without UCL nor a NT trophy there's very little chance he gets it.

It's good Barto kept him against his will.

Football changes fast, and Messi looks happy and we went from titanic to a young youthful squad which great potential.

they've changed it?

even so, euro is no go for poland. messi could have a shot at copa america. ronaldo might win the euros.

otherwise, bayern wins the league by default, so CL would be the tipping point in lewandowski's favor.
