Lionel Messi - v7

they've changed it?

even so, euro is no go for poland. messi could have a shot at copa america. ronaldo might win the euros.

otherwise, bayern wins the league by default, so CL would be the tipping point in lewandowski's favor.

It became "FIFA Ballon d'Or" in 2010 with the merging of the Player of the Year award and Ballon d'Or France Football, but the two trophies went back their separate ways in 2016.

Apparently, had they never merged, the 2010-2015 podiums would have been as follow:

2010
Official: Messi, Iniesta, Xavi.
Old formula: Sneijder, Iniesta, Xavi, Messi.

2011
Official: Messi, Ronaldo, Xavi.
Old formula: Messi, Ronaldo, Xavi.

2012
Official: Messi, Ronaldo, Iniesta.
Old formula: Messi, Ronaldo, Iniesta.

2013
Official: Ronaldo, Messi, Rib?ry.
Old formula: Rib?ry, Ronaldo, Messi.

2014
Official: Ronaldo, Messi, Neuer.
Old formula: Ronaldo, Messi, Neuer.

2015
Official: Messi, Ronaldo, Neymar.
Old formula: Messi, Ronaldo, Neymar.

So, one less for Messi, one less for CR, Sneijder and Rib?ry getting one each.

It's good Barto kept him against his will.

Football changes fast, and Messi looks happy and we went from titanic to a young youthful squad which great potential.

Only thing better then this messi would be this messi with 2011 pace. That would be abominal

Abidal: "Neymar? Ten days before the end of the transfer window, I went to Paris to speak with Leonardo. If we had not signed Griezmann before, I think that we would have re-signed Neymar 100%."

Abidal: "The team needed a winger. It's not about which player is better, that was the position we needed at the time. The President decided to sign Griezmann."

Abidal: "In December 2018, after a full analysis of the coach, his staff and the team, I recommended that we should change Ernesto Valverde. The President told me ?no, it?s not that easy?, instead he took the decision to renew his contract."

Don't know if Abidal was any good or not, but just as I thought, Barto did what he wanted in the end. Also, it's no news EV was protected by the veterans, and that Barto sucked up to the veterans. So, he was scared to sack him after that disaster end to the 2018-19 season.

Definitely gets a few coins for taking a dump on Bartomeu, but then again he was one of his mistakes as well.

Curious to see what will happen with him because i really doubt that we can afford his wages anymore. I would like him to stay but this club is financially in deep trouble. Club comes always first at the end.

Best option for us is he takes a big pay-cut and extends. If he does this he adds more to his Barca legacy on a deeper level than strictly what he does on the pitch. He's won enough, and I don't see how joining a big CL favorite to win another one adds too much to his career at this point. Unless he somehow goes to a non-big favorite and leads them to a CL.

He's still a big weapon in La Liga, maybe for CL he is past it, but La Liga is still very important and the no1 objective of each season for a football club. And as long as he produces to the level of 2021 in the future, he's a big asset still.

I don't think he's past it in CL.

CL (especially in prior years) is impossible to win by a player on their own.

What he needs is 2-3 world class players around him to mask some of his flaws and highlight his many strengths.

Fati Haaland Messi would be near unstoppable in CL IMO. Haaland won't find a better creative genius and Messi won't find a better predator.

Wanted to say the same. It's not something new that you need a competitive team to have a chance in CL. Messi still has all the skills to be the deciding factor in a game, which he showed with the many opportunities he created against PSG, and the absolute stunner he scored out of nowhere.

He still needs good players to finish what he creates tho, and a defence that doesn't let in 4 goals in the first match, and commits a stupid penalty in the second(wasn't really a pen imo tho). Midfield also lost the battle to PSG in the first game.

I feel like people here overestimate how big an impact individual players have on CL succes. You need a world class team and a good portion of luck to win, an amazing individual performance can tip the scales in your favor, but rarely much more over the course of all the KO games.

you maybe don't care but voters will do for sure, especially considering lewandoski was robbed last year. messi has chance if he wins copa america.

Lewandowski was unlucky, he was certainly not robbed. It is called force major, Balon d'or is nothing more than marketing, the virus impeded organizing the gala and the 2020 balon d'or was cancelled.
