Fine, but do you have to repeat the same point a million times and argue against people who like to value Messi's performances? Does it physically hurt you if Messi gets some praise or Barca fans call him for the GOAT?

NBA analogies to football are difficult. 5 players vs 11. That means 1 player doesn't have a massive impact in this sport compared to basketball. Also doesn't help that our club has been run like a joke in the last 6 years. Many other factors as well that makes the analogy difficult (salary caps, teams tanking to draft good players, playoffs being best of 7 instead of 2-legged tie, ec.)


I really hope Messi wins Copa America. Will increase his chances of getting BD'or massively if PSG loses the CL and remove any doubts about his contribution to Argentina. I believe history will be harder on him if he doesn't get one trophy with them.

Well no. I wish it were true that he was the GOAT who can destroy opposing teams. My problem is that Messi fans hype him up beyond reason despite having little to show for it since 2015. It's like being adamant that X fighter is the best in the world despite him getting KO'd by everyone year after year. It doesn't make sense.

It's really mind blowing to me that our standards of what constitutes success for our club are that low.

If Real Madrid win they'll campaign for Benzema. For PSG it's either Mbappe or Neymar.

There are way more factors to us losing CL than just Messi.

Meanwhile Ronaldo is getting bounced out by the likes of Lyon and Porto in Turin.

Like I said, though. I don't discount Messi's League record, which is top-notch. Same with SAF: sure, he struggled in the CL but his league record is GOAT. And the league matters.

This is also true. I understand when people here dont like if BarcaOG criticises Messi but Kingleo should be the last person who is allowed to be upset about it

For Manchester City, it could be de Bruyne if Belgique do well.

I don't know if Chelsea has a particular player outshining the other ones though. They are more praised for their defensive performances and defensive players don't win Ballon d'Or usually.

It would be really deserved for Benzema but given he won't ever be called to play for France, it might be a bit hard. Another one of his team playing in the Euros could get it.

For PSG, it could only be between Navas and Mbapp? if we are fair. Mbapp? would win because he is a forward. Neymar has had a very bad season. Hopefully, he redeem himself and carry us in CL.

We conceded 24 goals in those 5 KO ties we went out in...... last time I checked Messi isn’t a defender. Not saying he performed to his usual level in those in the slightest, but that indicates serious problems in the team from top to bottom. Especially when you hear of stats like Suarez with no away KO goal since 2015 etc.


He is the GOAT, no doubt, but you seem to think that the GOAT title means he’s meant to somehow drag Barca singlehandedly to CL’s with clowns in defence and old slow midfields. No one in history has done that.

You also seem to be under some sort of illusion/spell that your boy Ronaldo has done that or is better than Messi at that. Nope. It’s as clear as day that despite being a top player he needs a world class team around him to win CL’s. Didn’t win any CL’s in his first 5 years at Madrid (which was arguably his peak individually) until the world class team with Modric, Kroos, Marcelo etc was assembled. Even more clear now after his 3 humiliations to Europa level teams in CL yet Madrid are in a CL semi final and would bet they’ll get to the final.

It also doesn’t make you more of a Barca fan peddling this “club over player” agenda. It’s boring.

Messi has been key to 99% of our success in last 20 years, scored in most big games by far etc. He’s not at his 2009-2015 level of course but seems like he’s a victim of his own success. Still best player in world in 2021.
