Lionel Messi - v7

Messi can't be trusted in terms of rationale. Let's be real here, the man is a gifted footballer but he can't tell his ass from his elbow. He was all about his pals being in charge. In part also because he has no clue what it takes to win CLs these days.

Of course he wants to win, he's just clueless about how to do that. He's in no way prepared to make the sacrifices required for that to happen. On personal level or regarding his amigos.

Messi for sure wasn't mad about Bartomeu when EV was at the team, the veterans were in control, and Barto handed monstrous contracts for him and his friends. If you ask Messi about Suarez' current level, he'll say he's the best striker in the world. He's that clueless. And the funny part is that he totally believes it.

Things broke with Messi when Bartomeu promised him that he'll bring Neymar back and he not only failed, but then sacked his favorite manager post Pep, Valverde, and then turned against his friends.

That's your words against his.

Hard to know who to believe the GOAT who seen it all or some internet expert savvy who thinks Messi is an idiot who don't know what it takes to win

You made it clear that you believe Messi knows what is needed to win the CL again. It would surely help his case if that didn't mean praising an old, slow, overweight striker that has as many away CL goals as fucking Braithwaite in the last 5 years.

The problems of this team are literally the opposite of what Messi thinks. He is a figure of the status quo, probably the biggest Amigo. The big advantage though is that he is still a world-class player.

No it is Messi word vs his actions.

Why not put in written request to leave?

If Messi stays this summer does that mean he has the best judgement on whether this team can win CL?

Wanting Neymar back is something that would increase likelihood of winning ucl as opposed to the signings barto brought in. Suarez just finished as 2nd top scorer for la liga winners. Hardly surprising if he rates these players. Words are too extreme, it’s as if Messi is praising the hell out of iniesta as a top player still even though he’s playing in Japan. Chill dude

And of course you knows it and nobody else in the club does, you even know what Messi think without him ever talking about it (trashing barto for the way he ejected barto = don't know how to win ? )

How would we the fans know if he did or did not put this written request in though? Was burofax not kind of like that?

That's what Suarez is. Good for La Liga teams on a slow tempo, since his scoring instincts are still top. Dreadful when pace in the game and intensity is elevated, such as in a knockout CL game. Where the ball doesn't fall on your feet unmarked. And where you have to struggle and work your way in good positions. Suarez is a ghost in those games.

People make fun of Werner, but he's a level above Suarez against top opposition even with his limp finishing.

For teams like alaves, cadiz, getafe i would choose suarez, for big teams Werner. Dude just need to fix his shooting then he will be one of the best players in EPL.

Sure but at what point should Messi have wanted him out? Seems like the first time the club wanted him gone they got rid of him. Nothing Messi did or said made a difference. Too much is made out of any supposed power he holds over executive decisions. Wanted Neymar back because he’s probably too 5 winger goal scorer and also had best chemistry with Messi except for a handful of players.

If barto had signed capable players and not shit then Messi would have been overjoyed at having decent players to work with. Who wouldn’t be.

We can speculate endlessly just how deep Messi's influence is in the club. In my opinion, Messi is not really somebody that is a leader and has a sound judgment about the problems of this team and about what to do to fix them. That's it. There's plenty to support that and all have been said on various threads.

Changing goalposts though. Now it’s about not being a good leader. Never said he was a good leader. Probably knows a thing or two about what sort of players would bring more success than what has been bought. He’s not a full time scout though so of course he wouldn’t know which talents to snap up etc. I’m just saying wanting Neymar back after being given Dembele, Coutinho and Griezmann to work with is understandable in a football sense.

Plenty of times I’ve debunked these things.. Also Fati are you actually a meme getting involved the one time there’s a bit of shitting on Messi hahaha
