Lionel Messi - v7

If this Wjinaldum was so good, why Liverpool didn't renewed? I swear, on Barcaforum, if you have a bit of energy and stamina, you are worldclass. Abysmal. Good riddance, Wijnaldum was never more than good player in a great system. And now he is past his prime too. Glad he choose the comfort and money of QSG.

That is my point. We are so broke that cannot even sign this kind of player.

We can't even secured a 30 years old free transfer agent. I wonder what Messi think about the so call sporting project now.

Laporta can’t even close a deal on Wijnaldum yet he expects to be taken seriously in the fight for Haaland

There are pros and cons to this. Did you really want to Messi to have Raiola as a manager?

Here's the thing. Messi is a very naive guy. Very prone to being jerked around by false promises of 'a new project' from shysters like Barto and Laporta. He needs someone shrewd and streetwise like Raiola to spot this bs from a mile way. Do you think Raiola wouldve let Barto stonewall Messi into staying last summer? Last May itself he wouldve said either you extend the date of this release clause or we're walking...not take that snake at his word that 'we'll speak after the season.' Messi wants to win. That is why he put that release clause in place back in 2017. But because he's surrounded by incompetent ppl(and is not very intelligent himself) he has squandered these last few years of his career.

Happy that Messi wasted his last few years with us and will continue to do so.

Too bad for his fanboys that are desperate to follow him to another team. Take the L and move on :coffee:

There is a ton more factors at play than just career/going for trophies. His family loves Barca, he feels at home at Barca, these are things we know. There are other things we may not know that's keeping him from moving elsewhere: Language barrier of moving to City or PSG? New squad to adjust to? New coach to adjust to that probably won't let him play wherever and however he wants? I personally think that Messi loves Barcelona, not so much the sporting side of it, but the city as a whole and the fact that he is playing and representing his childhood club.

However, if he is really convinced about the sporting project, then he must have a very low IQ. Players like Aguero, Garcia, Emerson, and Wijnaldum would barely be able to help him challenge for a La Liga.

If we bring in a big time CB as a starter, close the Depay signing and move forward to go all in on Haaland next summer then the sporting project for Barca would be comparable to what is being offered elsewhere.

The grass isn't always greener on the other side, even if it looks that way right now. A lot can happen within a year or two.

Neymar hasn't exactly lit the world on fire after moving to Paris.

I am almost certain Wijnaldum OR Depay will be our last signing for the summer offseason. I don't see how this club can afford to sign both, nevermind additional players

PSG's Champions League window right now with or without Messi is dependent on what happens with Mbappe and so far it looks like he's moving to Real Madrid next summer.

Barca's Champions League window could really open up with some good signings this and next summer.

There will be another signing or two, I'm certain of it. Laporta doesn't have the media backing Bartomeu and Rosell did. He cannot afford to make the same mistakes.

If he'll have to push some players out, even players he deeply respects and loves he will do it if it helps secure his legacy as Barca President.

This is the part I am very doubtful of. This club is going nowhere next season if we see Roberto a regular starter again once fully fit and Busi starting CL matches. Not sure how you even push these players out because 1. They achieved a lot more trophies than that 05/06 squad, 2. Most of them are from La Masia, and 3. Messi loves playing with them. This is a much harder rebuild than when Pep came in.

It's telling that the two likes on this are from CR fanboys. Of course they're happy with Messi staying

te amo barca is not a CR fanboy.

Anyway most Barca fans in general are happy that Messi stayed back then and that Messi will stay now.

Just gotta deal with it Rassvet. Just how it is.
