He's playing for a bigger contract from City or PSG imo. Haven't seen him this driven since at least the 18/19 CL campaign.

He doesn't need to play to get attention from those minnow teams. He plays for Argentina, of course he has a great determination to win a major trophy with his national team. Also, fuck Citeh and QSG, we may be in shambles right now, but those two teams combined can't even reach our footsteps. We'll be back eventually and crush them like the disgusting cockroaches they are(with or without Messi). Annoying pests.
