This is definitely the reason. This is the most emotional I've seen Messi in quite some time. He clearly wants to win something with Argentina. He honestly deserves it this year more than most. Played great for the most part and looked up for it.
He'll sort his future when he gets home. If we can't sort our mess out, he'll probably listen to offers from City and PSG, but I suspect PSG can't really afford him due to the FFP. They are about to sign 3 free agent players on big enough wages..... and they just spent 70m plus on another player. City haven't signed anyone yet, so they'll have more freedom in the FFP department to afford him.

England wins on Sunday, and Kane is locked for B'dor.
Messi will get the FIFA award if he wins Copa, not the B'dor. If Argentina wins, Messi fans better hope Italy win the Euros
He shouldnt be ahead of Lewa, maybe if he has a good final, but he hasnt had a better year than Lewa yet.

I think the hype will get into them, Journalists haven't been actually that big of Messi in past votings, he would have a couple of less Ballons if it was just them iirc.
Journalists loves the "story" more than anything else, England winning their first Euro is even bigger story than Messi winning Copa, add to that voters fatigue and I just don't see how Messi will win it
FIFA is based on players and coaches, and those usually think more of who they want beside them to win games.
What if Italy wins, and Brazil wins, what then, Lewandowski back in it probably?
