Lionel Messi - v7

Showing favoritism to bigger clubs, What else is new. It's unfair, but something that is practiced throughout all the leagues.

Joan Laporta: "Every single night, I have sweet dreams about Leo Messi. I hope they will continue."

Sometimes it feels like the relationship between Barcelona and Messi is more a religious one, than it is about business and sport.

I get it, he is the best player the club ever had, but there will be a life for Barcelona after Messi, its a huge club regardless.

La Liga, at the request of clubs, is studying to approve a measure this week to allow teams to register new signings and regulate wage situations during August.

While I'm not sure how reliable this guy is , this definitely changes things while at the same time shafts the clubs that were trying to follow the rules. I guess this is another one of Tebas genius moves.

Gotta love Atleti fans crying in the replies about how this is only done so we can register Messi.

As if anyone will turn in to watch their poverty team if the league have no stars left.

Thing is Barca isn't the only one requesting this. I think Valencia , Levante (who are in a lot trouble) and one other LL team that's asking for these changes. Will be interesting to see how this pans out.

They should just get rid of this.

It literally puts the league at a competitive disadvantage when no other league have it.

I understand the reasons it was brought in for, and it was voted in favour of by almost every other club, but there should be other ways for La Liga to introduce a financial control so the smaller clubs don't spend above their means and go bankrupt or have to be bailed out by the bigger clubs, because that is literally the reason this was brought in. To prevent that.

But it doesn't work in these circumstances.

But changing the rule midway through the mercato shafts the other clubs. Tebas can easily deflect this drama by just putting it to vote again knowing that the other 16 clubs will reject the changes.

I think if you put it to vote the overwhelming majority of the La Liga clubs will vote to scrap it, at least for this season.

What makes you think that ? Surely the other clubs that seem to be "fine" now wouldn't want this to get scrapped (Real and Atletico for example).

It's already been reported Real Madrid are in favour of La Liga showing some leniency so we can register Messi without any issues. Atletico would be able to sign Griezmann and register him. Real Madrid might be able to sign a CB too and register him.

Getafe's President have already come out and called for La Liga to do something about it.

The rule should have been suspended until fans are allowed at full capacity tbh.
Tebas being stubborn will either lead to one or two outcomes:
-Un-reversible out come, from both sporting and financial situations, with other leagues taking over them.
Having to make exceptions for certain clubs like they are doing right now.

Breaking News has been leaked early by a well known SkySports UK reporter! I managed to save the article before it was taken down immediately.

"Manchester City have made an iressistable financial offer for Messi, Barcelona are doing everything possible to match the finances the City group have offered to the global superstar but it is understood a move is imminent"
