Lionel Messi - v7

Ahh the classic "what are you talking about". This is the exact thing you did after Roma. Predictable.

No idea what you are on about.

I used to argue with BBZ all the time about the set up of the team and players etc.

What is 'my cause' that BBZ was fighting?

The fact that Messi is seething over this comment almost 3 weeks since Valverde got fired speaks volumes on him not being captain material. There is zero reason to demand that individual names be made public.

We are going through what Argentina NT have been through. Messi is the best player I have ever seen, but not a good caption, never been. It is absolutely not his fault what we have been through the past two years, but he could have done better, much better.

I remember a few months ago Pique telling the media not to criticize the team because they have been winning the league title for a while, that is how bad we have become.

I know. You loathed Raki too unlike him. But you both were extremely supportive for EV accusing others to be spoilt and overly skeptical when they criticized him and talked about horrible gameplay being masked by misleading results etc. Was curious if you still feel we were fine under EV as you used to claim back then before the Anfield fiasco.

It's very easy. Messi, Busi, Alba, Pique and the likes have become too complacent just because they won so much. There is no hunger anymore. It is the management's fault they did nothing to resolve this problem.

Abidal was inviting trouble with his wishy-washy stuff like that. Clearly he is not a pro when it comes to dealing with stuff like this, he should have handled it with a lot more care, especially when saying stuff in front of the media.

That said, the fact that Messi chose to expose him in the open really left a bitter taste in my mouth. He didn't have to do this and make the club go down like this in the public eye by adding more drama, he could have voice his displeasure and complaint in private with Abidal or Bartomeu etc.

This tells me that perhaps he truly doesn't want to renew anymore. That's OK, we move on and start rebuilding. This might spell the end of the club of Amigos.

At this point we don't know if the alternatives (Font etc.) will be better, I pray that whoever wins the election next year will find some competent people to run the club.

Embarrassing that they have no hunger given that they just saw their biggest rivals pull off a 3-peat in the CL while they were choking away leads.

Messi is obviously 100 % right on this as usual.

Abidal has no character. If he did, he wouldn't be working under Bartomeu in the first place. Sided with Laporta during last elections, cried about club treating him badly during his illness under Rosell/Barto leadership (he was treated like a king) and then takes a job under Bartomeu. No character. Shit sporting director as well. This forum used to give shit to Zubi who made so many great signings. What's Abidal's work?

Also funny talking about amigos. Guy was the biggest amigo during his playing days. Involved in all the France NT circus and threw tantrums because clubs didn't give him minutes when he didn't want to stop playing at 34 years of age after cancer treatment.

Messi was conducting himself fine. Valverde got fired, Messi didn't speak to media about it, made a general thank you post on his social media and that was all he said.

Put yourself in Messi's shoes:

-Your working for a manager who you have a good professional relationship with but your department isn't doing so well.
-The directors of your company fire your manager.
-the directors then go to the media and say employees weren't happy under the manager.

Messi isn't demanding names be released, he's saying that if the directive ARE TO MAKE statement like that to the media, then they SHOULD be using names instead of using ambiguity to create a media dumpster fire of name speculation and defamation of players

I argued against BBZ in that he thought Barca would win the CL in Rome season and I didnt.

Also argued against a lot of nonsense about how bad team were that season when they were not as was being made out in games etc. Folk were predicting no trophies for years etc.

Long long before Anfield as well.

Argued for EV when it warranted it and against him when it didnt.

You're attacking him based on his affiliations with other people and scandals like Bartomeu or the French NT. Why is he in the wrong with this precise comment, and how is Messi's response an appropriate one too? I think Abidal simply sees that the club is in deep shit and attempted to stir some ruckus so that the public would know.

It also all depends on the angle things are being said. You could argue he's seething after this january transfer window and that makes the most sense to me. We lose Suarez our best goalscorer after Messi to a season ending injury - don't replace him. We loan out our 4th choice CB with no replacement. We sell our bench player winger after he made an ok impact with no replacement, dembele is injured, Arthur not back to full fitness. Our squad is the smallest squad in the champions league due to poor squad planning from the board and sporting director. Now imagine after all that the sporting director says the players aren't trying too hard. I'd be raging. He shouldn't have done this publicly though and I don't agree with his methods.

No one predicted trophyless for years. Predictable stuff from you. How long are you here for?

Abidal said what everyone else had been thinking, and saying it publicly should have lit a fire up the team's ass to play better with more workrate.
The media attention and speculation shouldn't affect the players. Don't need a bunch of sensitive babies that still fail to understand the gravity of 2 historical collapses back 2 back.

Honestly speechless. Bartomeu has fucked up so immensely the last many years, can't believe it. This is only the tip of the fucking iceberg, what a joke these last couple of seasons have been.
