Lionel Messi - v7

DonAK

President of FC Barcelona
No matter how each believes what truly happened behind the scenes with regard to Valverde, Messi could have and should have handled this better. He is the captain.

Honestly, if anything he should have reacted a long time ago. The club keep using the media to put the blame on the players all the time. Not to say the players aren't to blame, but the board/management is never under question for their poor planning and decisions.

Asking Abidal to single out the players that were not happy with training is supporting the dressing room?

Had he done that it would do nothing but destroy it.

That's the whole point. He shouldn't be saying stuff like that publicly in the first place. If he decides to go there anyway, then he should do it properly and also name those players. Or don't say anything in public to begin with.

The players need a shot in the arm and to take some responsibilty.

Too many think they are untouchable.

Likes of Pique is an absolute disgrace the way he swans about for example.

His error is not also taking into account the sporting side as playing into the situation.

For me the playing squad is old, too much control and that needs to be challenged or this will drift on until they all retire when feel like it.

Loved him. Poor lad.

Did always say unless Barca changed way played there was not point in signing him and not winger.

I am like Babys dad in Dirty Dancing... when I am wrong I say I am wrong.

Still 100% think better player than Munian though and under Setien if comes back can be a good player... if team changes.

Sackable offense by both Abidal and Messi for this amateurish childish stuff.. Going public about this childish shit. In normal circumstances Abidal should be fired tomorrow and the player (had it been anyone but messi) should have been put to the stands indefinitely.

This club is a fucking joke. Bartomeu's reign has been a downward spiral and his successor will have a lot of cleaning up to do in 2021.

Messi got mad because Abidal only blamed the players on this whole mess and tried to make it seem the board had no fault at all.
I dont blame Leo.

This whole mess is 100% on the board. I wouldnt single out Abidal though (even if he ran into the crosshair with his comments).

Absolutely no reason to come public with these sort of matters. Clearly a power play by Leo.

If Rakitic had done the same thing in place of Messi would the reaction from fans be the same? Doubt it.

Messi had an affinity toward Valverde and his laxed training style. He obviously did not take kindly to Abidal exposing the squad in public. Difference is Abidal is a board member with the right to say things like this, Messi despite all his power at the club is still a player and should keep quite.

I really cannot be arsed if Messi does not want to renew his contract past 2021. It might be a welcome change of direction at that point.

That's because Rakitic hasn't scored ~625 goals and won 6 Ballon D'or as a Barca player. The Croatian cuck has no power to wield and rightfully so. Stop being a muppet.
