Lionel Messi - v7

You guys need to realize its whats the pushed narrative and overall accomplishments that create ballon d’or winners bar exceptions.
Barca created roma 2.0 by choking a 3-0 lead. Narrative for Messi he failed... Argentina crashes out again = he failed.
La liga/cl topscorer/europe topscorer/cl ko’s/circumstances it all doesnt matter.

Van Dijk won this award the day Valverde and his fanboys bottled it, simple as that.
Of course its not fair but if it was he would not be on the same level as Ronaldo for it by Now.

Leo needs goals, I hope he’s selfish and takes all the pens up til the end of the year. I honestly believe another 15/20 goals with some amazing performances and the Balon D’or is his.

Messi set the bar for himself with the 91 goals. 50/60 goals a year does fck all for that award.
It just goes to show how pointless it all is.

Messi definitely lost buzz last months, mediocre copa with relative statements about Conmebol will not help him. He needs to pull a ronaldo and statpad like a madman especially in CL. Let's see who wins the first important award next month, if he loses FIFA The Best it's over.

Seriously? He had some important blocks. Won a lot in duels and reached the ball a few times during corners. He is going to be beast again as the season progresses.

He was lucky Chelsea only scored 2 goals. Liverpool was poor yesterday and their defense. Bad performance overall. Chelsea is not good team offensively. They lack any sort of goal scorer and creator. Dijk should have done better and his team. Heck, United battered them 4-0 last weekend.

Messi's main problem that has been holding him back a bit for entire career is that he's not ambitios, just loves playing football. This has revealed more after he's gotten old, conservative family man. He supports Valverde, because he favors stability and familiar routine over greatness.

He wasnt to blame for both goals this game. You saw the game or are just going by the scoreboard?

You are saying Liverpool are lucky for Chelsea to have only scored two goals. And I am saying he was a big factor in this.

That is just not true, he always wants to win but isn't motivated by personal awards like some are.

Anyway if he doesn't win the france football and fifa awards after the season he has had then those awards loose all relevance, every stat, advanced stat, the eyetest prove he was far above any other player last season (including all Liverpool players) moreso then in previous seasons.

I agree. He is not 100% dedicated to his profession for some years. Man has other priorities at this stage in his career.

Messi is definitely 100% dedicated. He's playing because it's fun, not to prove something like some others.

This is bullshit man, it’s an emotional response to how last season ended.

Messi last season was more motivated than ever, he made that speech at the start, pressing more in games, passionate celebrations etc

Fact is if we’d scored just one single goal (what he set up for Suarez/Coutinho) in that Liverpool game we would have got to the final and we would be calling it one of his greatest seasons ever. No doubt we would have won the final against Spurs and the momentum would have won us the Copa too. Unfair to say he is not 100% dedicated.

Not at all. It's just my impression that he is no longer fully committed to football as in the past. Happens with most players too as they age.

I completely disagree and not sure how you’ve come to that conclusion with him.

Lowest workrate level in his career mostly. Walks the most not because he has physically declined, but because he is more relaxed, less intense and committed on the pitch as a whole.
