Lionel Messi - v7

What is the alternative? Drop him? He always takes some time to get to his best form. And notice the difference once fati and Puig, 2 people who understand passing game, came on.

People would tell u to rest him. I am actually of the opposite opinion, hes slowly getting his feel back and looked better than previous two games.
He looked lighter on his feet better control of ball. Only thing left is accuracy.

Not drop him. Try to talk to him, and make him understand he has to respect the position. The shape of the team has to be cohesive. There is no such thing as a player that does everything when he wants how he wants. This shit is on FIFA on amateur level.

Messi will only do so if other teammembers are carrying their role well.

Doesn't make any sense man. Sometimes the ball doesn't get to you. It happens in every team to have some periods of no action. That doesn't mean you start to move around randomly fucking up the positional game.

If he respects the position the opponent has to still keep some players next to Messi. By doing that, there is more space in midfield. The moment the opponent leave Messi under more lenient marking, he becomes an active target, provided that he does so minimal movement at least.

You can clearly see he participated better and held his position when actually good tiki taka trained players, even really raw ones, entered the game. Literally no one else can follow messis passes and almost no one carries his weight in this team.

Messi is afraid if he doesnt get involved deeper he will never touch the ball during the game. Messi tried to stay up front against Liverpool and barely saw the ball.

You could have a point, but Messi does these things even in games where things are working. He leaves his position and we can see huge holes being created in our shape. This affects how well we attack as a team.

He never even waits to see if that happens. As soon as the game starts, and some minutes have passed, he is already out from his position wondering around aimlessly.

He has been woeful in the final 3rd past few games for his standards. Constantly booting a blind pass to the keeper and his shooting hasn't looked great either. Looked a lot better with Puig/Ansu out there I'll say, but still not on form.

He badly needs some rest, and generally speaking he's way too in love with Suarez.

Bingo.

I mean he should do better in certain situations, but if people think Messi staying high up the pitch on the RW is magically going to transform the shape of the team then I don't know what they are watching.

If he does that the chances of him getting the ball are extremely limited considering how incompetent our senior midfielders are at advancing the ball forward.

He can move a bit, but to adjacent zones. Not everywhere like he does. His position by far is right-center. He was even wandering about on the left. I swear he was on the left a good while combining with Alba. That's just not his position.

He has to stay on RW more and if does drop deep dont try to force defence open every time and help more trying to dictate game.

Even if just stays in final third more as he may get ball less but in better positions than does just now and it helps open up pitch.

Hes been combining with alba for a few seasons now. One of the players he has best chemistry with.
