Lionel Messi - v7

Puig like players are needed in the midfield, or our possession is too unproductive and too slow. I don't know if Puig can hold his own against better sides, but he fits the profile we need. When everyone circulates the ball aimlessly for 30 minutes and Messi hasn't touched it, he WILL try too hard, and will probably fail, to make something happen.

Most dangerous trademark action is Messi receiving on the right with options like fullback on the outside. So he can either pass to the fullback in space, or he can go inside on his left. Exactly the move where he almost scored from Semedo's pass.

If he stays more there and moves more to stay out of opponent's shadow and open the passing lanes to his teammates, he is a monster.

He can move a bit, but to adjacent zones. Not everywhere like he does. His position by far is right-center. He was even wandering about on the left. I swear he was on the left a good while combining with Alba. That's just not his position.

He has to stay on RW more and if does drop deep dont try to force defence open every time and help more trying to dictate game.

Even if just stays in final third more as he may get ball less but in better positions than does just now and it helps open up pitch.

I can agree with both of this, but I really want us to improve our midfield setup first.

Somebody should sit him down and tell him that Luis Suarez is not the only player he can pass to.

As soon as Suarez was subbed, others got more involved and even Leo found himself in more dangerous positions than during the whole game before.

We'll see how it goes, but Griezmann should eat a good portion of Suarez' minutes. I want to see Griezmann centrally, but with players passing to him, not him making run which are not passed to.

Too small a sample too judge and it was the end of a game we were winning.

Yea, but the truth is we need to find other options for Suarez. Reality is that he is not mobile and he is old. And he is a bully in the team. He yells at anyone that doesn't pass him except Messi.

I like him, he scores absolute golazos like no other forward, but he's past it in key areas.

Like Fati and Puig and should see more of them. Too bad Puig is not stronger physically... Would love to see Alena, Puig and De Jong some games next season in midfield.

Suarez doesnt hold up ball well, cant run channels, cant press consistently and cant run in behind defence.

What he can do is moments of genius.

That is where he is at and it is not giving enough to the team as a whole even if he racks up some nice stats.

Yea, his weaknesses are as important as the goals he scores. And unfortunately, Messi shares some of that weaknesses. He needs to be dropped sadly.

We should play through Griezmann more. His moves and link-up play are world class.

But does it matter he is not so strong? I mean, we don't look like wining much with the other cms we have, so at least we could enjoy this guy playing at 100% tempo and making great plays. I am just so tired of the turtle pace, I am not sure I would mind him playing more.
