Lionel Messi - v7

It's not a matter of class but of qualifications in an industry, field or business.

If everything is based on ability and pedigree then Messi should be named the manager of FC Barcelona (or any football club in the world for that matter) as he is the most qualified.

Perhaps we should just promote Messi to take over. :coffee:

So you think Setien and Sarabia are suitably qualified for their jobs at Barca?

It is difficult to judge him with the current circumstances and the short time span he had. But manger in manger out, the same problems remain. Maybe there is something wrong with the board? Those who are keeping the board? The players that over stay their time? It has all become about money .. each wants the other to be comfortable and stay as long as they can in this club in order to milk thier contracts. I remember graceful players that left us for the betterment of the team like Xavi, Iniesta and Valdes

A brand equity is a strategic choice, meaning that all the investments you spend directly and indirectly in building your brand should help in building the image you strategically want to build. Ours is ?More than a club? yet the stupid board or who ever is keeping them don?t understand this basic concept. The harm that has happened to the FCB brand equity over the past few years is disgusting because it is now ?Its all about money? .. it started with that stupid guy Rossel I believe, I think he is the one who added Ads to our tshirts for the sake of making money and rationalized it in his own way

Very disappointing behaviour and nothing new over the years. Sad because by many accounts Messi is a very decent and humble guy off the field, but when it comes to football he is clearly arrogant.

I don't know. Like I said I don't think Setien is the best however at the same time I question even the best manager out there would not make a difference with this group of players.

But that is not the point, the point is nobody, either qualified or not deserves to be treated like that.

What is the criteria to be qualified and have respect of the players?

I'm just trying to put myself in the boots of the players.

It's different if you're a coach like Klopp or Mourinho where, despite not having a distinguished playing career, you have had a body of success at smaller clubs before you make the jump so you can refer to their achievements.

IMO if you have not had a strong playing career and you want to coach a big club you need a precedent of real success in your coaching career before managing a superclub.

To have clear ideas and a good way of projecting those to the players. If players have even a pinch of doubt it won't work.
With unproven managers like Setien it's even harder since they have an uphill battle of trying to prove to the players that they are right for the job.

The only logical way to rebuild is to buy 2 hardworkers in midfield, 15km/game players like Kante, and put Messi above them, and then put actual wingers with a hungry striker in the attack.

Another way is for Messi to drop his ego and settle for a RW/RS position and let everyone do their freaking job. Messi doesn?t have to go back grab the ball in order to guarantee that he gets the ball and enjoy his time while giving zero shit if he loses the ball from the midfield. Everyone else need to feed him balls and cover the counters he might cause. Sounds like a privileged kid

Frenkie-Kante

like this you mean? that could work but would require funds we don't have to replace the entire front line

at this stage im against rebuilding anything around Messi. if anything, we should be saving him for the most important games and giving him rest like Madrid did with Ronaldo. give the players a chance to gel without having to pass him the ball at every chance
