Lionel Messi - v7

Messi realising a threat to leave is not what it once was and that there is not the clamour from top clubs for signature.

Doubles down on staying with amigos and fuck all changes. They will try to see off any coach/board that oppose them.

The last power play of amigos will be the fortune in wages they are getting from club and they will bank on Barca not wishing to waste that money on players that wont play.

So basically you are saying, Messi is doing this for the amigos and himself. You are right about the threat. It's not as powerful as few years ago.

All of them wanted to leave to a point.

If Suarez got a huge offer and wanted to go then that is different situation from a group of older players not realising their time is up and unable to force them out.

We should define that "Amigos" clan at some point.

Because in my eyes, that list can, at most, include:
1. Suarez - an actual friend
2. Busquets - past glories and all
3. Pique - past glories and all
4. Alba - past glories and all

Rakitic, Vidal, Sergi, Coutinho, Umtiti, Mats, Griezmann, Dembele, Lenglet have nothing to do with that least I guess.

Then all of Rakitic, Vidal, Sergi, Coutinho, Umtiti, Mats, Griezmann, Dembele, Lenglet, are players we can send away, since Messi won't have a problem.
So I guess if we don't, it won't be his fault. Or will it?

Just trying to establish a context, of were Messi could be blamed or not for future board decisions.

Alves decided to leave when did not get contract wanted and he took offence at them trying to sign RBs.

Fabregas wanted to leave also.

I really don't feel Rakitic and Roberto have anything to do with Messi.
I mean, Messi doesn't seem to have a problem with Roberto and Raki not playing.
One could argue that he seemed to have a problem with Suarez not playing.
All the others are wild speculations.

Messi, Suarez and Fabregas are close friends - families spend time together, parties etc
Alba was in a picture with them at a party in Ibiza, but don't know how close he is with the group.
Otherwise never seen Messi being really close to the likes of Pique, Busi, Rakitic or Roberto.

But i guess witch-hunt is in full force and people like to imagine scenarios that suit their agenda against Messi.

I define the amigos as a group of (mostly 30+) players who have way too much power at the club because of their history with it and thus are given importance disproportionate to their actual ability. Most are past it and still living off past glory, some (Roberto) are not that good to begin with. Its not necessarily about being friends with Messi.
