Lionel Messi - v7

I define the amigos as a group of (mostly 30+) players who have way too much power at the club because of their history with it and thus are given importance disproportionate to their actual ability. Its not necessarily about being friends with Messi.

I have a feeling most people define "Amigos" as "Friends with Messi, A.K.A. untouchable.
But most on that list are not actually friends with Messi. Only Suarez is and perhaps Alba.

And Pique.

If you look at the training videos, Messi, Suarez and Pique always stick together.

I would define it:

Amigos: Suarez, Pique, Alba, Vidal

Older guard: Rakitić, Busquets

Vidal? That seems kind of odd.

Anyway, as I initially said, I am trying to establish the context. And people seem to have different opinions about the "amigos".

Check this out:

Pique
Alba
Busquets
Roberto
Rakitic
Suarez
Messi

This is a totally different take on the matter.

Some of the amigos are friends with each other and they give each other even more power over the club that way. Messi and Suarez being the obvious example. But that's not the core issue.

The core issue is we have a group of players who the club will bend over backwards to ensure will get their way no matter what. Like ensuring their friends play to please them.

There might be a better term to describe this than Amigos but Amigos is what has stuck.

Who?d have thought players that have played a long time together might be friends/friendly with each other? I wish they all hated each other that would be great for the team. Alba, Pique and Busquets had two decent seasons with Valverde in all fairness, the fact messi might get along well with them is besides the point.

With Alba and Messi playing well together except for this season who would have replaced him? With Busquets playing well who would have replaced him? Rodri? Lol. Pique has been solid for the most part of these last few years, would take an 80m purchase to get a player better than him.

The point I?m making is, Messi is seen as this little dictator who surrounds himself with friends that aren?t good enough when the reality is they have mostly been good enough. This season is a clear time for them to depart now and last year should have been the phasing out year but to suggest they?re playing on the back of Messi demanding things is absurd when you look at their seasons performances.

We will see if it?s truly dictator Messi this coming season. If it?s the case I will happily post a big ?I was wrong? but if not I hope everyone else does the same :).

Javier Bordas (director) told @partidazocope

?I see Messi disappointed, like all Barcelona fans. If he wants to leave, we will try to convince him not to?

They are just like close colleagues, not best friends.

I cannot imagine what sort of tantrum and toxicity he has created in the past two years because we did not sign Neymar back. He even admitted that he demanded the board to sign him. Messi as the case with many latinos unfortunately due to nurture probably have huge attitude issues. Riquelme and Rivaldo were divas who disobeyed their managers.

That is borderline racial stereotyping. The Latin temperament. Give it a rest. There have been plenty of Argentine players in history with ice cold natures. Zanetti for instance. Los Pumas, Las Leonas etc etc Luis Scola and Manu Ginobli. A real group of hotheads. Messi comes from a stable family and even those like you have just disparaged like the magician Riquelme who came from a troubled neighbourhood in BA settled down and never gave the manager any issues.

Maradona called Roman's style unacceptable so he quit the Albiceleste. van Gaal did not want to play him as he was not his signing so stuck him out wide. Riquelme just wanted to play football in his central role so moved to Villareal with great success.

Any manager with sense always builds a team around it's strengths. The fact is Barcelona have stagnated. A misguided transfer and youth policy and managers failing to accept that Messi cannot as he gets older do it all on his own. He needs mobile players around him, who can track beyond, provide genuine width and a playmaker who can take the burden and focus off him. Scaloni with Argentina has realized this and allows Messi to play where he is still lethal in the final third with plenty of dynamic players around him.

Messi does not deserve people like you sniping at him with stupid comments as if he cares. If he has any sense he will move to a club where he has a chance of winning a CL because the current mess Barcelona are in will take with the financial crisis created by the coronavirus at least a minimum of 2-3 transfer windows to rectify.

Fuck it.

Let him leave.

He protected Valverde, protected his declining friends and failed to show leadership on multiple occasions on and off the pitch in relation to the board.

Weak ass.
