Because having money is better than not? Either way it's going to be difficult, but I'd rather go through difficult times with money than without.
I honestly believe Bartomeu sacking all those lawyers isn't a coincidence. I really think they fucked up on Messi's contract.
A very well written analysis by some Sports lawyers about this saga even giving some cases of other players from July i'll advice anyone to read without BS in their head.

whatever happens, NEVER should a player be allowed to leave a club in this manner ever again no matter how big a player becomes. Iniesta and Xavi went with grace, Messi is making himself look a twat. lessons have to be learned and mistakes should not be repeated in the future
I've lost interest in this saga, its such a sad way to end whats already been a shit season; if Messi leaves on a free, part of his image will be tarnished to me, as a fan, but I will wish him the best for what hes given us in his time here. It'll be interesting to see how he does in the PL
It seems likely Messi will get the provisinal transfer pass from FIFA, join Man City, go in a legal battle against Barcelona, lose the case and he won't pay the 700m clause but a fee much lower decided by the judges.
Seems risky from Messi's side
