There's no way Messi should be nominated if the WC isn't taken into consideration in the voting period and you know it.

Messi was robbed from winning the Best 2021 so it's nice to see him nominated although I also don't think he should be top 3 this time around based on the timeline.

It is what it is.

These awards are just showing their true colours with these nominations. Might as well nominate Ronaldo for more publicity. :lol:

RL9 fully deserved it in 21 and was robbed by the French magazine. Was easily the best player in the world in those years. All Football fans except Messi fans agreed with this.

Lewy had an amazing league season in 20/21 winning the European Golden Boot and breaking Muller's record, but outside of it, didn't do much in the CL 20/21 and went out of the group stage in Euro 2021.

Most of the backlash came with Lewy not winning the 2020 Ballon D'or. If Lewy had won the Ballon D'or 2020, then people would be more in lenient for Messi winning the 2021 edition.

He was injured in that CL tie which is why Bayern lost to PSG and their 3 year long(?) winning streak in Europe ended.


In 2021 Lewy broke CR7's career-best year's goalscoring record too(69) and was consistent af throughout the year. He had 69 goals and 17 assists in 58 games in 2021 iirc.

Had 3 in 3 for Poland in Euros but that national team is a joke. Even Peak Maradona ain't doing anything with that dross.


Messi was obviously great as usual but wasn't consistent throughout the year and Lewy was immense individually throughout the year despite suffering an injury and missing a few games.

It sucks that he was injured and that was bad luck, but unfortunately in football, those things are not taken in consideration for these awards.

Amazing record that he equalled CR7's record, but unfortunately that does not bring too much attention unless it's breaking the all time European goalscoring record (Messi in 2012). Messi fans had to deal with a similar situation in 2018 when he was placed 5th in the Ballon D'or rankings although statistics wise, he was amazing.

Even if the national team is a joke, you would have expected Poland that has Lewy not to be last in the group consisting of Slovakia and Sweden.

Messi was not consistent throughout the season (the 1st half of 20/21, he was dreadful goalscoring wise), but he was still the top scorer of the league and had an amazing Copa America 2021.

Funny thing is that if there wasn't such a big deal of Messi not winning an international trophy, then maybe Lewy might have had a better chance.
