Lionel "The Greatest of All Time" Messi V2

I have to say, moving to the MLS has been great for Messi to prepare for the summer tournaments.

MLS season usually starts in late February so Messi won't feel burnt out from a long season and he's at a club where he can take rests as long as he wants when he's not 100% fit.

Enjoying the Miami Life and playing high quality football with his friends and family is the perfect ending of an incredible career.

Playing against bums prepares you for humiliations. The only good part is that offset season. His level dropped by a mile.

Guess he will win the MVP, even with the games he missed he has most G/A and best record in the league

That majestic pass to Alba for the cross in shows why I hate goal and assist stats. This guy could have hundreds more 'assists' if you count very key actions in a goal, even if they are not one of the final two players before the ball crosses the line.

This guy makes a mockery of the obsession with stats, whereas certain 'other' players are vastly overrated due to it.

Too easy for this absolute genius.
Agree. I really hoped Balde would learn from Alba how to cross and pass into the box or right in front of the box. Sadly that didn't happen.

Without statistics on assists or goals, Messi remains a genius, unlike many other players. His vision, creativity, and ability to read the game set him apart.

I don't know much about Balde - though I have watched him several times. He seems a talented player but is his crossing that bad?

Thanks. Yeah I stand by it. I maybe went a bit overboard saying I 'hate' goal and assist stats but the truth is that the qualitative aspects of the game are still paramount. The eye test still matters a lot. Like you say you cannot measure vision, ability to read a game etc.
