Barca shouldnt be even contemplating signing him.

What would be the plan? A 35 year old Lewa up top with a 36 year old Messi?

Let him go to MLS.

He's only 1 trophy behind Alves (43-42) and with Ligue 1 a big possibility it could be a tie at the end of the season. Would be an anti-climax if he'd end his career as joint leader. He deserves that 1st spot.

To be honest I don't think that anyone cares about that. There will always be some "new" record to break and there is no way one person can hold all the records.
