It’s also something that has become a narrative due to a couple of bad instances like versus AM and Roma. CR7 in RM’s CL heyday put in about 8-9 km per game which is about 1 km more than Messi. Mbappe is 24 and covered similar KMs to Messi in the Bayern game a few days ago

So it’s not like other star forwards are putting in 11-12 kms a game or something extraordinary. It’s just become an easy narrative around Messi. But this is the price of being a superstar, and in Messi’s case the GOAT. You get all the credit when you win (WC) and all the blame when you don’t.

The issue people have is that PSG fans have a hatred towards Messi which they don’t for Mbappe who was equally poor and who hasn’t won them the CL either. I’m not surprised though. Barca/ Messi eliminated PSG 3 times in 13,15, and 17.
