Joan Laporta: ?I did hope that at the last minute Messi said he would play for free. I would have liked that and he would have convinced me. I understand that the League would have accepted.?

 Good joke. A player who has hundreds of millions and cheats taxes would never play for free. Laporta was delusional if he is serious about it and really had hopes like that.

Kinda funny that Laporta(a multi-millionaire himself) wished Messi, or any player for that matter would play for free when he himself couldn't stop using the club's money to spend on strippers for his yacht parties during his first stint as club President

Laporta is either an idiot or a cowardly cunt.

You can't be that naive to say something like that. As it's clear nobody plays for free and also clear that Messi was always a target for clubs like PSG who pounced at the first opportunity.

I mean, If you really expect Messi to work for free at least propose this to him. Or try to work something out.

This idiot instead went to meet Messi and told him that nothing can be done and that we can't sign him. Did he expect Messi to jump at his feet and beg him to play for free?

Only good thing in this it's that Messi will surely come out with his version of the story.

Messi: "In my team, there are two players who I would obviously vote for; Neymar and Mbappe. Then there are players who have had great years individually, like Lewandowski, and Karim Benzema as well, who was great."

Even if Laporta was telling the truth, there was no need for him to come out and say this now, after the whole situation was accepted without hard feelings (mostly) by fans and Messi himself. The only thing this achieves is make Messi seem in a bad light and damage his legacy a tiny bit. You can only hope that's not intentional, but chances are he's now resorting to the same means as the previous board to make himself look better. I thought Messi leaving was already a sad/unworthy end to the story, would hate for it to now get a bitter note as well.

Read between the lines

It's really ugly

Laporta: ?I couldn?t have asked Leo Messi to play for free. I had some hope that he would suggest it himself, but PSG were PRESSURING him. ORIGINALLY, of course he wanted to stay.?

Plus the papers all said Jorge Messi heard something during the negotiations he didn't like so he ended them there and walked out, these stinky Catalans may not have asked Messi directly but no doubt asked his father if he's open to the idea before they released the statement

Stunning. Messi left for money rather than a project it seems.

Still struggling with his knee. Something has looked off since he returned from that injury the first time, he hasn't gone in a 100% run with the ball since. A doubt to play vs Uruguay accoring to some Argentine media outlets.

Leo Messi= ?I had other offers when I left Barcelona as free agent, but I have to admit that we came to an agreement quite quickly with PSG."

Yeah cause the other offers rm English teams were half of PSg's offer and one barca would have matched.

He'll play, it's just a bit of discomfort.
