Ballon format changed to be season by season rather than calendar year. And they already said next World Cup won't be included in this one.

A French court handed Benzema a one-year suspended jail sentence, finding him guilty of conspiring to blackmail former teammate Mathieu Valbuena over a sex tape. The Real Madrid star given suspended jail sentence and $75,000 fine for complicity in attempted blackmail

Surely they cannot give Benzema the most important award in world football now he is a convicted felon
