one thing I noticed in these first matches including the pre season, Messi is getting lot of more chances compared to last season, he could have scored easily hattrick in the supercup final as well with a better finishing, I don't remember any single game from last season where he had in the same match 3-4 easy chances, he looks also a bit more explosive than last season.

He's also using his body better. He was a pushover last season. And yes looks fitter with better dribbles and quicker handling. He already looked like that during finallisima.

With him, it's mostly about motivation. It's WC year and his last chance with a good Argentina team...

He's going to be locked in

Fuck Poch. What a scam. Glued Messi to the wing and made the whole world believe he was finished for a season.

Forum amigos trolling Bayern yesterday for being 5-0 up in the first half against EL winners Frankfurt yet fawning over PSG beating Clermont Foot 5-0 and Messi for scoring in the final minutes when they were already 3-4 up.

At least the added hype will just make the eventual failure in the knockout stages even sweeter.

Both are farmer leagues but Ligue 1 is more entertaining for me, at least PSG are known to screw up the league every once in a while. Bundesliga is literally just Bayern, Dortmund are pathetic and the other clubs are the German farming ground.

Anyways, GOAT. Hopefully he can roll back the years and grab that World cup, he deserves it.

He's also playing closer to the goal and more centrally and seem to be told to have a bigger focus on getting into goalscoring positions. Pochettino had a 34 year old Messi play as a pseudo-RW lol.

He looks stronger and fresher in general. Probably part motivation and part simply adapting as Ligue 1 is more rough on players and having a proper pre-season.

Hope so GOAT gets CL this year if we are not getting it LOL.

Anyway I wanted great start for him, that happened. I belive he can score easily more then 20 goals in league this season.

Why are people buying the hype already? They demolished farmers last season as well, didn't help them much in the only real competition they were in.

Because it is more than just the goals.

Their teamplay look much better under Galtier.

Frankfurt are farmers?

So Barca got dicked by farmers not many months ago. What does that make Barca?

The term farmers league gets thrown around a lot, but in reality all the leagues have issues with disparity PL included and it's because of one thing - money.

- City have won 4 of the last 5

- Bayern 10 in a row

- Juve 9 in a row before their decline

- PSG 8 of the last 10.

More obvious than ever in Europe too. Gone are the days of the likes of Red Star Belgrade, Steaua Bucharest, Spartak Moscow etc being contenders in Europe. They are just their to make up the numbers now.

City does not belong in that list. That league is still way too competitive, even though we have seen 4 times same winner in last 5 years.

Bayern, PSG and Juve can win league with eyes closed yeah.

It does belong in the list, City and Liverpool are miles ahead of the rest. It may not seem like it but if you support a midtable team like I do, it's the same old teams in the top 6 year after year.

What is your definition of a farmer's league?

But question is: if a league has a favourite does it automatically qualify it as a farmers league? I thought title of farmers league applies to a league where it's favorite is having a walk in the park winning it.

Many people in England consider La Liga a farmers league, it gets mentioned all the time. Funny thing is, when you look at the variety of 2nd-6th place finishes in those leagues, the PL is no different.

You think without Klopp in charge of Liverpool, City are winning the league in April like PSG and Bayern do. Only difference in England is you have two teams 20 points ahead of the others and not 1.

But I think having 2 teams already sets it apart from the other leagues you mentioned. It means to win it there is very small margin of error. Same can not be said for PSG Juventus and Bayern. It is kind of theirs to lose.

This already creates a totally different dynamic, with having to have a close game management also with busier schedule.

You might be right though. I concede PL has its favorites to win it as we speak. But winning it is still looked upon as a great feat. Not sure if people look the same at PSG Bayern or Juve winning their respective leagues.
