They need a midfield. Am I the only one who doesn't rate de Paul? He is so clumsy controlling that ball like he will lose it every time. But fighting a lot

He was shocking for about 75 mins. Had a decent last 20 when his job was to just run down the opponent. So basically when he didn't have to play football.

suddenly after the goal he started to press and run, all about mental. Still in suspect shape if you ask me though

Yes he doesn't seem 100% and should be rested at some point against Poland. Too many players carrying injuries.

I think physically Messi is fine and at 100%, he withstood many knocks and hits today, toward the end of the game he even started tackling and defending, very lively. As it is always been the case with Messi, it is his excitement and engagement level that determines his game. Mentally if he wants to be in, he is in.

Best midfielder around
Still got a clutch goal in him. Mexico parking the bus and Argentina creating zero chances. They needed some magic from outside the box and he provided it. Not young and fresh enough to keep doing that every game, tho. Fear they won’t get too far if they don’t wake up and get their shit together. It’s the same coach and team that beat this scary Brazil side everybody is raving about in Rio at their home Copa America. They need to remember that and start believing, because they looked scared to shit before Messi scored that goal.

Clutch goal? Didn't expect. Grats.

:lol: He's had so many winners/clutch goals in El Clasico and versus the likes of United, Bayern, RM etc in CL KOs.

Like every other all time great, he's also had big games where he's come up short. But the whole "didn't expect a clutch goal from him" is downright stupid.

Don't think it's a lack of excitement. We should know how much he cares by now. It's more about performance anxiety. Goal took the pressure off his shoulders, allowed him to play more freely.
