Saudi Arabia head coach Herv? Renard: "Sometimes the opponent is not at their best motivation. It's normal. It happened to us when we played a lower level team. Sometimes, people don't understand this... The motivation is not the same when they're playing against Brazil. It's part of football."

His halftime speech to Saudi Arabi players is on YouTube, and it was really something. Definitely played an effect in how they were in the 2nd half, meanwhile Argentina slowed down

Some speculation he might miss tomorrow game

I've seen the reports he's got some discomfort. Which he also had for the SA game. Makes you question why he played a full 90 against UAE, and bothered starting against SA. Could have had 2-3 weeks rest and be back in shape for remaining 2 group games.

Think this should be the lineup next game:

Emi Martinez
Montiel - Otamendi/Romero - Lisandro - Acuna
De Paul - Paredes - Enzo/Mac Allister
Messi
Di Maria - Lautaro

According to the many Argentian sources, the very probably lineup vs Mexico is basically the same as yours

Dibu Mart?nez; Montiel, Otamendi, Lisandro, Acu?a; De Paul, Paredes, Enzo Fern?ndez; Messi, Lautaro y Di Mar?a

Don't get this fixation with done players.
I am not going to talk about Messi, but at least why is Di Maria still starting? Otamendi? Jesus Christ

It's a pity because there is a good core of top young players like Lautaro, Enzo, Lisandro, Alvarez, Romero, Foyth
and it's handicapped because of them serving the seniors

Otamendi has been great and in form this season with Benfica and according to Argentinian news, Romero is not match fit after many weeks with no playing time so I can understand starting Otamendi.

Di Maria, I agree with you and with Lo Celso's absence, having Di Maria in the lineup throws the team balance off as I do have reservations with Enzo being able to replicate Lo Celso's role on the left side of the midfield.

The lineup that I wrote at the top of this page would be the lineup that I would go with.

Only thing that sucks about Messi is that there is a good chance he implodes when the going gets tough.
Head goes down, and he dissapears in himself.

You want him to put up a 2010 Arsenal/psg 2013 type fight when needed and inspire the whole team by example.
But he suffers like the rest of them.

He's too great to be passive like that. Just go down swinging and go all out.

I hope he does it next time and fights when the situation requires it. No more low energy dissapearing acts like vs Saudi Arabia second half.

Deja vu. Many times in his career (mostly for Argentina) I've wanted him to leave it all on the pitch but I never get the feeling he does, it's just not in his personality. The only thing I can really criticize Messi for in his amazing career is the head down mentality.

I have this feeling Mexico will finish them tomorrow. An early goal and Argentina will be fucked imo.

Messi is a genius craftsman, an artist never seen before. As with many a people like him, he's bland and docile as fuck personality wise. A nerd.
