No, it wouldn't be enough... With Messi in this team, you automatically have to surrender one midfielder or one attacker.
If you surrender one attacker, the either you play strikerless or without wings -> ergo, all Barca problems in the EV years
If you surrender a midfielder, let's say Gavi, you would have better passes into the final third, and opportunities to score outside the box, but a black hole in pressing and defending, and no movement in attacks
Let alone the whole different problem of crippling any plan of buildup as the ball would always have to go through his legs

BUT, this notion that Messi is so crippling, even at 35, got obliterated when he led his team to continental and world glory while being by far the best attacking outlet (G+A) over those two tournaments.

Some of our players are even struggling to bring this team to the CL KO rounds, and getting shafted by any semi-decent LL team (that too, in a LL in decline). Sit down, and be a little more humble.
