"What we've done in the early part of the summer is to improve the squad. That's something I feel we've done with the players we've brought in. Now what's important over the next three to five weeks is improving the team. That's something the club is working very hard at."

I like our signings so far tbh. Mignolet, Toure, Luis Alberto and Aspas will all add a lot to our squad.

But certainly and especially if Suarez goes we do need another 2-3 players that will improve the team further still. Especially in defence.

aspas and alberto could easily flop in the premier league, they are punts more then anything, rodgers comments back that up describing them as squad options rather then starting 11 material. why buy them if you don't think they are good enough for the first 11 is what i would ask rodgers, doesn't matter how big a squad you have if the players are not good enough. as for toure, shows where liverpool are at that they view that as a good signing, i don't think it really matters if he was free or not, that doesn't change the fact that he's not very good anymore...

I don't think Liverpool's signings are that impressive tbh.

Toure is not really an upgrade on Carragher, be interesting to see if Mignolet becomes number 1 keeper or not. Don't see Luis Alberto playing much over the season, whilst Aspas has the potential to be a very good signing, there's always doubt.

If Liverpool want to challenge for top 4, they still need 2-3 first choice players and some other squad players.

Suso to Almeria was a very smart deal, he'll evolve a lot as a player. I didn't get to watch him much at Liverpool but during the u20 tournament, he looked amazing combining with Oliver in midfield, very smart and technical player. He'll be the predominant orchestrator in Liverpool if he's a success when he returns, since he plays like a deep lying Iniesta often bombing forward.

I heard someone in a different thread mocking ed for describing "the future of english football". Just out of interest who was he talking about?

maybe if they sell saurez 15-17, if not 10-14.

He scored 12 and assisted 7 with Celta Vigo, literally having to carry the team and getting almost no service. At Liverpool he'll be helped by quality players such as Gerrard, Sturridge, Coutinho, Henderson, etc.

Only saw the last 20 mins or so but the consensus seems to be that Aspas looked quality, Alberto was invisible.
