Roberto, Messi and Greizmann have been fucking brilliant.

Suarez passing been better than normal as well.

Not sure Vidal suits this formation as he bombs forward so much left with six attacking players including full backs and that is too much to defend against when they break.

Need to play this style imo, and cut the Messi deeper incursions to the minimum, so the CM can keep their shape and be more defensive. When Messi drops deeper, Vidal makes runs very high and when the ball is lost, Messi doesn't try to cover defensively even though he is in a position to do that, while Vidal is way up unable to do anything. Plus the 2 fullbacks which are usually higher up than normal.

This setup works very well for De Jong.

I thought Barca played very quick and direct when got the chance.

Nights and day to recent games.

I'd say its more so Messi. I just prefer a faster pace and he can sometimes like to slow down and reset.

Suarez and Griez both being up top and narrow also gives Messi more space in the 10 spot.

At least in this formation when Messi drops deep and tries to force it there are two options in Suarez and Griezmann.

Griezmann link up play, work rate and movement off ball been brilliant and makes it easier for Messi when does drop.

Just dont like Vidal as he look so reckless positionally.

Yea, not making any illusions about CL, but this is the approach that works best. Narrow 4-3-3 (with a 1-2 shape) with wings left open for fullbacks to run into.

I'm not so sure. It is also working in part because of the surprise factor.

If we played this weekly then teams would sit back, we would be too narrow with no penetration and absolutely roasted on the counter.

It's the best solution we have. We simply can't play any other way with these players and the way they like to play. This is the only option where each of them is somewhat in their best position (except Suarez a bit).

Teams will sit back but Barca have struggled with teams pushing up as no threat as well.

If teams shit back now at least there can be two threats in box in Suarez and Griezmann.

Not negativity, reality. The naive fake optimism is what caused this board to stick with the oldies for the past few years; reality is what caused us to lose our chances in winning the champions league and actually be a deserving contender

I am obviously not happy with how things turned out and the decisions we made, but theres absolutely no need to bash the team while we are actually playing a decent game. Theres a time and place for everything. (Not specifically aimed at you)

Domt think this formation does need a runner from deep as much as someone to hold position.

Rarely get a team that will attack with six players like Barca are here with Vidal bombs on as so weak defensively.
