Luciano Vietto

With the likely arrival of Gaitan and even the rumors about Diego Costa coming back I don't think Atletico rely on Vietto, even after the next season. There were some reports that Simeone was not happy with Vietto's poor physical condition and if that's the main reason behind his lack of playing time at AM I don't think he ever going to make it there, at least as long as Simeone is in charge.

I think they bought him with intent to be longterm Griezmann's replacement whenever they sell him. Sure, he's physically not on the level of Simeone's style of football right now but he can still develop. His talent is unquestionable and that's why I don't think Atleti will fully give up on him that quickly. If they bring back Costa he'll be what Jackson Martinez was supposed to be but failed and Gaitan is more of a winger, so competition for either Correa or YFC. I think Cholo's plan is probably to play Koke more centrally this season, at least against worse opponents when they often had problems with creativity when they played YFC (or even Augusto)-Gabi-Saul-Koke midfield. Replace Gabi with Gaitan and move Koke to CM and you have much better offensive team instantly. But yes, probably too offensive for Cholo.

Only youngster that I can see permanently leave Atletico this season is Oli Torres. Kranevitter and possibly Thomas will go on loan and Vietto on loan or buy back.

Given that Barça have cockblocked Lucho's reunion with Nolito, we should go for Vietto for sure. Not as expensive as Gameiro, young, talented, and Messi likes him.

It seems that Vietto won't be going to the Olympics as well, as Atletico has not released him to go. Jonathan Calleri will replace him in the squad.

Why do people want someone who can only play in Suarez' position??

Because we have players like Denis and Rafinha to cover on wings. But no real replacement for Suarez. Munir just doesn't cut it. It is better to have a striker who can play centrally and also feel comfortable on the wings.

Actually, I think Lucho pushes for older players (Mathieu, Nolito, Arda, Gameiro) as he wants instant impact while he is here (which won't be long).

Imo. Robert and Bartomeu (spoke about re-sale values himself) prefer younger players.
