Actually, I think Lucho pushes for older players (Mathieu, Nolito, Arda, Gameiro) as he wants instant impact while he is here (which won't be long).

Imo. Robert and Bartomeu (spoke about re-sale values himself) prefer younger players.

Makes sense. He did not renew his contact too.

Why do people want someone who can only play in Suarez' position??

Because anyone coming isn't gonna play anywhere else most likely anyway.Denis best position for the time being is LW and his 2nd best is RW (he excelled there with Villarreal too) and there is little time to play at both positions with Messi & Neymar anywy
We also have Arda & Rafinha to play those positions if needed ,I know they aren't the best options but overall this leave main focus on our forward signing.he is gonna be Suarez sub for most part.
Though I am not sure I like Vietto himself for us,though it seem he is the best affordable option right now since G.Jesus isn't interested to join right now and Gamiero would cost more than 20M

Because we have players like Denis and Rafinha to cover on wings. But no real replacement for Suarez. Munir just doesn't cut it. It is better to have a striker who can play centrally and also feel comfortable on the wings.

Rafinha is slow as a turtle and cant play on the wings. Denis is a midfielder, not a forward and wont score goals like Messi and Neymar even if he can play there. In many games we would need a LF or RF, not someone like Denis, and if Ney or Messi is out, that leaves us with a big problem. So we need a goal scoring forward who can play at least two positions up front IMO. Vietto will get like 7 games a season and demand a transfer at the end of the season. I dont see the point.

I don't want us to sign Vietto either. I want barca to sign a solid striker who can score goals when substituted upon. An impact sub. For rotation I trust Denis who was great on wing last season. His best position is LW too. Vietto development stagnated last season because of lack of minutes. I am not sure how he will perform here.

Mathieu was Zubi choice,he wanted him in 2013 and wanted to pay his buyout (10M at that time) but Neymar deal left us with zero money back then.In 2014 Lucho wanted one of Benatia and Marquinhos (20 & 27 of age at that time)
Gameiro is btw Roberto choice too,the guy himself spoke about he regret not getting him for Atletico and losing him to Sevilla.

I know that isn't gonna be a popular opinion, but I think the post Pep ear shows that there should be a balance between the Coach,Sporting director and the freedom the board gives them

With Tito(RIP) & Tata, the coaches were 2 guys that had a job that was too big for them.transfers was basically forced on them.Tito asked directly for a new CB and they gave him Song.next year Tata didn't even get a single signing.Rosell also seemed to give Zubi a little freedom with his work.very strict budget for example.

When Lucho came,a Barca legend and ex-captain.Bartou gave Zubi more freedom to work and Lucho had more say in the transfer. That was one of our best summers despite some shortcomings .
Zubi choose Mathieu,MATS,Vermaelen for example,Lucho got Bravo,Rakitic while Suarez was sort of mutual decision.Douglas was probably the board choice (or Zubi).
Next year there was no sporting director, instead a transfer committee that consisted of 2 business guys and 2 who are 70 years old guys. Lucho was given full authority and we end up with Arda and Vidal

This year we have a new sporting director and we have a coach who has a say in the transfers, I don't think it matters who wanted whom as long as they can reach a good final decision.which seem to be the case.

My point is,the coach is the one who at the end will use those player so he should have a big say in who comes.but at the end he has very little time to watch players around the world or even outside Liga.he has to be informed by the players that could suit his style. At the end a mutual decision should be made.Right now I think we have that mix and I hope it will work probably.

^ is he reliable?
From what I've seen generally he is. He's also collaborating with Fernando Polo who's very reliable himself.

Polo posted this 17 mins ago.

And he replied to someone who asked the question that if Vietto was our next signing and it looks like it's true.

Is Vietto good?

He didn't live up to the expectations at atletico, but he was good at villareal, scoring 12 goals in his first season in Europe including one against us in the 2-1 liga game.
Last season he only scored one goal and it was the equalizer against rm

Appreciated. Is his current level better than Munir in your opinion?
