Disappointed to not get him but his decision is understandable. He'll get more playing time in Sevila and I think he'll explode there.
Antimilan: Cerezo said that Diego Costa's return to Atletico is close so they won't go after Gameiro. I also doubt we'll pay as much as Sevilla ask so I believe he'l stay as there were no other rumours of EPL clubs being interested in him. And I also think he'd like to stay in La Liga so Atleti and Barça were the only possible destinations for him.
Do you think that Sampaoli could play 3-5-2 with Gameiro-Vietto/Vazquez in attack? And do you think Navas will return?
Chelsea is also after Gameiro, so the case will not rest until the transfer window is officially closed.
Regarding the 3-5-2... it is sure that Sampaoli will be able to experiment a lot on it. We currently have these midfielders: Kranevitter (DM), N'Zonzi (DM), Iborra (DM/AM), Ganso (AM/DM), Sarabia (AM), Kiyotake (AM), Correa (AM).... an overbooked midfield, plus there are heavy links with Roque Mesa (DM) of Las Palmas.
So in fact 7-8 midfielders, more than enough to experiment in this area. I'm still not sure though what Sampaoli will implement here. We might need another winger (especially RW), and Navas perhaps would've been perfect, but I don't think it will happen, at least not this transfer window. He was previously linked with a return, but nothing much made of that, though I'd fancy him in the team.
If we'll manage to keep Gameiro, sign Vietto, sign Roque Mesa and another decent winger, while keeping all the other current players, I can tell you now that we will be doing some real damage both in La Liga and in CL this season.
