Buying a player doesn't damage a relationship between two clubs! So now the Real's relationship with Bayern is damaged because they bought Kroos??! Such a lousy excuse for wasting the chance to buy a world class midfielder for a good price. Apparently buying Kroos for 25m was less necessary for Barca than buying a crooked Vermaelame for 15m!

It will harm bayern because they wanted to sell him, they would have lost 30million Euro.....

so you can't blame Lucho for everything.

This is true also.
The board is bad.
The coach is just average at best.
The team in general is much weaker than in Pep's or Rijkaard's era (especially midfield, defense and a motivation part).

A few years ago, we had:
1. board (Laporta), who was much better than the current board in terms of transfers
2. we had Pep who was much better than Lucho
3. we had better players in general, plus they were on their prime and fully motivated
4. plus, we were blessed with the best generation of La Masia products back then

This is why we were winning trophies easily back then, and in the current era we will constantly miss 2-3-5-10 points for the title, and we will always get knocked out in QF or SF of Champions league.

We are just too average on too many levels currently (except for the attacking trio) to win any major trophies.

We are all talking very much about formations, players who should play etc. I think what really needs to be discussed is our approach for the games - not whether we play a 4-3-3, 4-2-3-1 or 3-4-3, which i obviously also just a bunch of numbers that change all the time due to players changing positions, defending/attacking etc.

I have noticed quite a few changes since Lucho took over. For instance:
- Our defending against set-pieces is really poor.
- We lack intensity when we are trying to win the ball back after we loose it.
- Midfielders are covering more for the backs than they used to do.
- It does not really seem like we have a system when attacking.
- The transition from defence -> midfield -> attack is really poor.
- We do not really have a clear-defined starting XI for most matches.

So, how can this be fixed?

First and foremost we need a clear system for attacking - starting from the defence. I think that we should look like a 4-4-2 when defending. For me it is the superior formation for defending - just take a look at Real Madrid, who has changed from af 4-3-3 to a 4-4-2 when defending. Something like this:

Then, when we win the ball back, we will need instant movement from the attacking players creating a counter-attack. I think it should be something like this:

If the counter-attack fails, and we need to slow down a bit, i think our attacking formation should look something like this - obviously with a lot of movement from all of the players!

For me that would be a great way to go from defence to attack. However, when we have a goalkick, we will need another approach make the ball go from goalkeeper and to the attacking players. Currently this process looks like a big mess, and therefore i think we should get a clear system for that. I would recommend something like this:

Now we have found a solution for the formation and the diffrent phases of the game (except set-pieces, which i am not going to talk about. Lucho should be able to fix this within a few months...). In addition to that, we have found a clear-defined starting XI, which i believe should be the one on the pictures. Maybe a few changes (another RB for instance).

With all of this cleared out, it is time to take a look on our lacking intensity. This is something i have really missed the last few games! For me the intensity - for instance, when we are trying to win the ball back - is what defines Barca, and Lucho simply has to make the players play with that intensity again as soon possible. Also when we are just moving the ball around, we need more movement-intensity from the players, to make it even easier to move the ball around quickly.

Now that was just my opinion. I would really like to hear what you guys think? :)

It looks good. Though I'd switch Messi and Suarez in that first formation since Suarez's dominant foot is his right, and Messi's is his left.

Lucho gave an ok for kroos, but someone on the board convinced all that its better to reject him. His agent offered then a Pre Agreement so he can come next Year for free, but they said no because they didnt want to damage their good relationship with bayern.

Lamest excuse ever... Bayern got thiago from barça, was there any problems? No. The player wanted to go, the club got him. It'd be the same. Kroos wanted to go, we should had bought him.

Exactly. And AFAIK Kroos didn't have a buyout so we couldn't have just bypassed negotiating with Bayern. If we negotiated a price with Bayern for Kroos, I see no reason for relations to spoil.

And this is why we don't move forward as a club. People still whining about Kross!!!!

He is probably thrilled he didn't now.Lol.

We don't move forward as a club because of this board, and not because we are discussing things on a forum. We're also complaining about Vermaelen, is that wrong too? :shakeshead:

I get your point but if the socis cant be bothered to launch a vote of no confidence what can we do?

This board has been beyond useless in everything and the socis too.

Looks like things are moving now with Benedito and Laporta's statements which keep on coming.

I still don't understand why we didn't buy kroos instead of rakitic, kroos fits our playstyle so well

Much weaker than Rijkaard's side? In Rijkaards last year, Ronaldinho was partying with hookers every night, Deco stopped giving a crap, and Eto'o wasn't even fully fit for the whole season. The team was a clusterfuk and was very lucky to make the CL semis that year.
