Barca's football was magic in 2010 and 2011, especially the period of late 2010 and early 2011. This year is also brilliant, but obviously the magic is more individualistic.

As for consistency, Pep's team in 2010/11 was the most consistent team I've ever seen. You could expect the same level of play and dominance in every game, and you could start any game against any opponent with the confidence that Barca will win. For the most part, that was true. Their losses were:

1) Freak early season loss to Hercules at Camp Nou
2) Dead rubber loss to Betis in Copa del Rey
3) First leg loss to Arsenal where they completely dominated the home team and should have destroyed them.
4) Copa del Rey final loss to Madrid, arguably the only deserving loss.

Lucho's team in 2015/16 don't garner the same feelings, but they end up winning most of the games anyway. So far, in their 3 losses (Bilbao Super Cup, Celta and Sevilla in the league) they deserved to lose all 3.

Well, I don't know if you can just slide the loss vs Hercules under the rug, and and not the Bilbao Super Cup loss. The Bilbao Super Cup loss was early in the season, against a tough opponent, following a tough pre-season, a transfer ban and a treble.

I understand that there were extraneous factors that led to the Bilbao loss. But I was commenting more on the theme of dominance and high-level play that I had iterated in the previous paragraph. Barcelona did not get dominated by Hercules. In fact, Hercules were not even on Barca's level that day. It is a very similar situation to the Arsenal game (although I think Arsenal played a bit better than Hercules).

In the 2015/16 team's losses, no one could complain about the result. In the case of the Bilbao game, although the conditions did not favour Barcelona, they still lost 4-0, which really is quite a big margin if you think about it.

Anyway, I just realized that I missed one of the losses in the 2010/11 season. First leg of Supercopa against Sevilla - 3-1 loss. A deserving loss as I recall, but again, not one where Barca were dominated.

It would be a real shame to see the unbeaten streak end in a game we don't need to win, although I'm not so sure Lucho will care.

Agree with most of the posts here.

Let's leave aside the off days - we played some boring games under both Pep and Enrique. Let's compare the days we show up and play well - I believe we had more of an invincibility factor under Pep - we would move the ball around midfield like a team of magicians and create spectacular goals transitioning from defense to attack in one seamless manner - and the opposition was just left scratching their heads.

Under Enrique, as many have pointed here - I don't think we have the same fear factor, teams know we are favorites, but they feel they have a chance against us - which sort of plays into our current tactics of speedy counters. We play some magnificent football even now, but more centered around brilliant skills and 1-2's of the front 3, rather than midfield dominance leading to the final scoring opportunity being created.

Let me put it this way - I think Pep was what we needed then, what made us who we are, and Enrique is exactly what we need now - someone who is using what he has at his disposal to be pragmatic and win us titles. The unpredictability and the fact that in many games, we look like conceding at any point, only for Suarez to pump in 2 on the other side - I think neutrals like this more balanced (or perception of balance :p ) matchup - which might be confused with being "more beautiful".

Under pep teams feared the style and the team. Under lucho they just fear MSN. Doesn't mean that pep can do better job than lucho with the current squad. Just means that that 2011 team is the pinnacle of world football.

Yeah and back with Pep they also feared the MEH and MVP. If anything people fear this trident the most.

Lucho is great in the press conferences, very similar to Pep in that regard, to me...Has just as much contempt and his answers are perfect

Nah, he doesn't get way into his feelings like Pep does. He is bit more pod school in that regard. He also relies less on romantic rhetoric than Pep.

Which I'm not totally knocking Pep for.. He was able to and still has built an incredible brand with his rhetoric and personality to supplement his on field work

They most likely feared the style of play during peps era as it was something different and they didnt know how to cope with it.
Roll on 5 years to luchos team opponents now know how to cope with our tiki taka style so no longer fear it as much as under pep

P.s i tweeted miles jacobson from football manager to see if they could sim peps barca vs luchos
