Luis Enrique

1) Tactical variations ? not possible, we do not have the players (too similar players) to propose tactical variations. Suarez maybe will help us, but certainly he won't solve all problems
2) Spending 154 millions for winning la liga only?

The 154(157) figure is meaningless, the net spend was 76 million.

Thats true but we shelled out 154 for players who were worth that amount meaning we should be seeing drastic improvements.

Although I do agree La Liga is our best bet right now. CL is a whole other ball game with teams who, quite frankly, right now are better than us with better managers than Enrique.

We got lucky with Pep but Peps don't come aorund too often. We need to give Enrique time to figure things out.

Why start Ter-Stegen? WHY?

This is as rookie of a mistake as one could possibly make.

You have Bravo who has done a solid job so far, conceded 0 goals and has played every single la liga game so far this season. You can't bench your most experienced goal keeper in a big game against world class competition like PSG.

Then you have Ter-Stegen, a kid who hasn't played a minute of La Liga, never played in the UCL, has barely adapted to the system and he is given the start ahead of Bravo?

You have to be kidding me.

Time to learn the lessons.

Something else is that Alba and Alves shouldn't both start in big games. Mathieu as LB would give more solidity at the back.

i wonder why managers cant see that. will work against levante or granada but not against top teams.
I`m also surprised noone is pointing finger at sergio (I know Bojan did but he always does;) ever since he took Yaya`s place).
I wont blame this loss to him but the players. He was there in the touchline shouting n waving his hands but players were just not motivated for whatever reasons.

Lucho just decided to do his old pal Blanc a favor (considering the rumors that a loss to Barca might cost Blanc his job).

The biggest mistake was definitely starting ter stegen in such a big match. Not only is it risky but you also can really ruin the kid's confidence. Not a smart move by lucho

It would have worked 3-4 year ago, not anymore. Alves doesnt have the speed anymore, and Albas defensive capabilities is questionable.

The motivation excuse has outlived it's expiry date by now. Shouting and waving hands doesn't compensate for a fundamentally flawed approach. Bar the occasional glimpse of past brilliance like the equalizer, the team was outplayed by a weakened team with a manager on the ejection seat. Lucho himself said that he'll need time to get the tactics down and time he shall have - but there just can't be any sugarcoating of yesterdays' match.

The Barca manager position seems to be cursed after Pep like Dark arts position in Hogwarts. Every manager seems to be making the same idiotic decisions again and again. I pray Lucho comes to his senses. Cant bear another wasted season again

My god there is a slight overreaction about our loss last nite yes it maybe wasnt the best call puttin ter stegen in with no league experience maacherano didnt do to badly at the back hes a bit on the short side but id a rather had him in than pique last nite who would be prone to the odd brain fart. On another nite luck would have went our way an we would have got an equaliser or even won the game

I posted this in the match thead, but the only justification for Lucho setting out the team wrongly last night I can think of is this: Barca came into the game in form, PSG seemed terribly out of form and lacking a goal threat with their lack of goals up until now. In hindsight, the correct way to approach the game was more cautiously and with more control of the ball. But given the context before the game started, it is understandable to some extent why Lucho would think Barca had a chance of rolling PSG over and keep the set-up they have been using on and off in La Liga, where it has been so effective.

That's not to say Lucho should be absolved of criticism. It was a terrible performance last night and the squad he has should be enough to beat a weakened PSG in their own stadium. IF he makes the same mistakes in Barca's next tough match (Real Madrid at Bernabeu), then I'm afraid this looks like another Tata season in the making. And he'll deserve all the criticism coming his way.
