?We?ve changed radically and he fits us like a glove,? Koke insisted.

That's the key point. Suarez continues to be excellent in a system that works to his strengths. Probably couldn't have picked a better fit than Atletico.

The only issue that bugs me is that our system last season was supposed to be made to fit Suarez and Messi. Perhaps that was not the case and we just had no system.

We had too many handicaps. Messi needs covering, Suarez needed, Busi needed and then Lenglet and Pique too. Almost the whole team was slow and had cracks all over the roster. Not even 4 Kantes could fix holes like this.

Now we only have Busi and Messi. Suarez and Rakitic was too much dead weight. Araujo helps the defense with his speed.

I don't know how things will play out with Messi (would he be more keen to stay with Suarez there) or if it is indeed positive for the club to get rid of their two best players, as it was with Ronaldinho+Deco.

But this season, just switching Suarez for Griezmann, Barcelona would be the ones leading with 10 points, and probably winning both copa and supercopa. (Just football tactically wise, mentally is impossible for me to judge)

Think so too, but might prove to be the right choice in the long run with contractual questions et al.

No it's not that simple. It would unbalance the whole team. We have a somewhat functional formation now with Messi playing as a 9.
It means we can set up in a normal way instead of either having a hole on the right side or players transitioning into unnatural positions to cover for the 2 strikers.

If not for all these injuries and fuckups in defence we wouldn't look so bad in the league. We shouldn't have lost either game against the Madrid teams and it had nothing to do with the attack and whether Suarez was there or not. 2 games and all of a sudden we're in a title fight.

I agree it is often not that simple, football is chaotic.
And we will never know, but can only guess
I do not think anything Griezmann does is crucial, his defensive contribution is overrated (he tries but isn't too good) and offensively I think Suarez is better in combination play and just as good in pinning opp.defence. That Suarez don't drop deep to get the ball is just positive. Of course Suarez is the better finisher as well, and can bring some "bonus" goals on top of that.

Despite what that article claim by Sid Lowe Suarez is not linking well or improving possession for Atletico.

They have more of ball as they are playing a slower game through midfield as hitting on break is not Suarez game.

Suarez more or less has one role.. to score goals in the box and is still as sloppy as last season just they have reduced his involvement in that side of it. He has lowest number of passes in the team, worst pass %, gives ball away the most. The link up play is not there he still tries high risk passes and loses it often.

All the areas of game what were failing for Barca are still there and they have him more or less a penalty box striker there to score goals and not have to contribute much else. Not that they need him to but to make out his link up play has returned and helping Atletico is false.

And Barcelona lack a goal scorer.
I mean you obviously believe in Griezmann, I don't, for the reasons I wrote. I think he's playing terrribly.
I am not saying Suarez is optimal for Barcelona, that he ever was, or that he has improved after coming to Atletico.
Just that switching him for Griezmann would improve Barcelona.

Barca do lack a CF but not one who plays the way Suarez does. Better off moving on and developing team as done this season.

Messi is the goalscorer and more players are chipping in than previously so dont agree Suarez is missed at all.

Pine for Messi back on RW and Suarez at CF if you like but it was done and impacting rest of team too much to carry two players that need to be given the freedom those two need at this age.

Some of the worst team football seen in years trying to accomodate both and other old legs. Glad it is done and Messi looks better for it as well in last months.
