If we can mould Dembele to a player that uses his pace to get in behind from the LW and take on the last player 1v1 then it could be great.

yup

and it's what neymar used to do in the treble season. before the stupid idea of dribbling from the half way line and "playmaking" occurred to him and ruined both him and MSN.

Yep. If Neymar kept playing like that he could have developed into a CR type scorer which would have been perfect for Barca. He could get his accolades here by playing that role and getting his numbers up, but too bad he want to be a playmaker as well.

Imagine this guy. Thinking he’s signing for Roma to 24 hours later being in Barcelona and signing for us. Massive difference in clubs and knowing our sporting department we prolly didn’t have any contact with him. Just out of left field.

Suddenly got some pace and dribbling ability to bring off the bench too, and in some games start as well with both Malcom and Dembele at each wing.

Not bad.

Got a wicked long shot too.

That's basically how fast and skilled wingers should be played. Midfield should absorb most combinations eventually with Messi dropping a bit and join in on the action often, with sweet balls directed to our wingers in space. From then, both Dembele and Malcom could glide past a player anytime.

But we seem to actually build on the wings. As in, skip midfield play, and work the wide channels as a build-up option. Instead we should keep our skilled midfielders a bit narrower and win that area. Do that and you can access wingplayers and give them more space.

A player like Pedro basically was all about that. His job was to read the play, place himself well, and the ball came at the right time in the right direction. He often had to do as 'little' as time his run and place a good shot and he did that great.

Everton bought Richarlison for around 9 Million more Euros and while both are the same age, and Brazilian, Malcom has proved much more in Europe so far to at least warrant his fee.

Not that Richarlison is bad but god damn 50 million euros for him.

I hope we don't get rid of these players even if they have a bad season with Valverde. Another manager could do more maybe.
