Malcom

There's some concerns that both Malcom and Dembele are similar as in both are creative/playmaking wingers. Both can co-exist on the field no doubt with Dembele playing as a LW and and Malcom on the RW. But where they need to improve is just channeling their inner direct winger and to do that they need to improve their off the ball movement to get into positioning.

The Playmaking part is great but what can make them even better is if they can position themselves to break away from their marker without the ball With either the Midfield or Messi feeding them through. No doubt both Dembele and what I have seen of Malcom have the tools to do so, it's just a matter if Valverde can coach it into them.

Stuff like that is what made Neymar dangerous in the 14/15 season and Pedro especially in his early years. Having both Dembele and Malcom making runs off the ball with their Pace and technical ability would be something to watch.

Look who has joined the party!

Valverde looks content with him, second choice or not.

This lad's picked up French really quickly, I'm sure he'll learn Spanish in no time - he's a smart kid.

From what I've seen (haven't seen a lot obviously) he can play with both feet so I guess we can use him on either flank.

If Semedo Dembele and Malcom played we would be such a nightmare on counter-attacks, it's a shame that defensive 4-4-2 bus park is all EV knows.

Not really, he is definitely left footed - his right is much weaker and rarely plays on the left flank. Loves to come in centrally and truth is he plays a lot like Dybala in that regard - meaning it may present an issue occupying the space Messi enoys to exploit

It'd be more ideal to have someone who loves to be an outright winger but I think fans are going to love his motor & will to improve/win

If we want to add some premature opinions based on a 2:30 minutes long video, his body language and attitutude for now (in 2:30 minutes ) looks way more confident than Dembele's.

They are equally as old (21 & 21).
To me, Dembele looks (body language) like a 15 year old kid.
Malcom looks like a grown confident man.

Let's see whether he will be equally as confident, brave and cocky on a field.
Let's hope so.
Without that, he won't make it.

Malcom will be on the bench mostly because of Valverde, just look what happened to Dembele last season.

What happened? Shiting all over Valverde became a sport on barca forums.
He was out for more than half of the season. That s what happened. Despite that, he managed to play in 33 games (1000+ min).
He could have played few games more, yes. But i don t think it s unreasonable to be cautious with a 21 year old coming back after 2 injuries.

Looks can be deceiving. :messi:

With all the compilations and looking at his body language I am also starting to think that he will be a great transfer for us. Like BBZ said, unlike Dembele who seems like a shy guy, he even looks stuck up in his party pictures, Malcom looks the complete opposite, he looks cocky and confident just by just looking at him. If he is like that on the field and is as talented as we think, I expect him to become a first team player for us this season.

And before someone replies as always: Messi is shy.
Well, he is 1 out of 10.

He has the best skills, so he survived even with flaws in his mentality, cockiness etc. (which can be seen lately in moments when we are losing and he sulks and disappears from the match).
Cr7 has weaker skills, but is way more cocky and driven.
Henry was cocky.
Ronaldinho was cocky.
R9 was cocky.
Etoo was cocky.
Mbappe is cocky.
Treuetguet was cocky.
Ruud was cocky as fuck.
Neymar is cocky.
Zlatan, no comment needed.

Attacking players have a huge burden, expectations and pressure on their shoulders.
Fans expect dribbles, magic, goals from them all the time. And fans will throw doubts and insults after 2 bad matches on you.
If you are slightly scared, shy, you usually won't make it as an absolute best attacker.

Malcom came onto this dinner with: I am the boss attitude.
Dembele is always shy and too impressed by a big club.

This bravery, cockiness, overconfidence is only one out of skills.
But it is way better to posses it than not to posses it for attacking players.

If Dembele had this look in his eyes, I would put my money right away on him that he will be the next Ronaldinho and an ultimate leader, key player, decisive in tough moments etc:

But, he is quite shy and scared for now.
(NOT only because of a lack of a playing time. He seems to be that kind of a personality for now).
