Yup I knew the difficulty in grading matches, which is why I didnt initially want to put forth the idea. But then I decided to post anyway so that maybe somebody else can come up with something.

My suggestion is to let each league game be the same grade. CL matches until Round of 16 can be the same grade as league matches. Then progressively increase the grade. But still this is not good enough, since it doesnt take into account difficulty of opposition.

Rough difficulty of opposition could be judged by goal difference.

Win by 3+ ........ Factor 1.0
Win by 3 .......... Factor 1.10
Win by 2 .......... Factor 1.20
Win by 1 .......... Factor 1.50
Draw ............... Factor 1.40
Lose by 1 ......... Factor 1.30
Lose by 2 ......... Factor 0.90
Lose by 3 ......... Factor 0.80
Lose by 3+ ....... Factor 0.70

So a 1st place MotM of 5 pts in a 3-2 win would be 5 x 1.5 = 7.5 pts.
A 1st place MotM of 5 pts in a 1-3 loss would be 5 x 0.9 = 4.5 pts.

You could also add a factor of 0.10 for away games (so a 1st place MotM in a 2-1 win away would be 5 x (1.50 + 0.10) = 8 pts.

There are other factors, of course, but would make it much more complicated. For instance, a close score might be more likely when there are less starters on the field, even if the opponent is not that strong.

The grading according to wins, draws and losses looks good too. However if we're to use a grading system all together, I think it needs to be some kind of fusion between that and the one that footyfan proposed. About that though; I think there should be different gradings of leaguegames too, as there's a huge difference between playing at home against, say, Granada or at the Bernabeu.
All this will end up terribly subjective though, as there's probably a million different oppinions on the difficulty and importance of various games. But then again, a MoM vote like this is of course subjective by nature.

In any case, there's no need to discard or settle on any system for a good while, as there's not need to calculate anything this early in the season.

Real Madrid vs Barcelona Supercopa 2nd leg:

Messi
Valdes
Mascherano

Not easy to pick MoM this time as a lot of the players were poor. Messi scored great goal and created every Barca chance except for Masch long ball to Pedro. Valdes could have and should have done better for both the goals but kept us in the game thereafter. Mascherano redeemed himself after 1st goal with some great tackles.

jordi alba - only player who was very good in both halves.
messi - he is still the difference maker, but doesn't look nowhere near his best IMO
pedro - deserves this by only DAT control in 60th minute. that would've been one of the best goals ive ever seen.

pedro for all his trying to score a magnificent goal and generally he is one from the positives
valdes for keeping the score low

Oh, and just a reminder: Votes for MoM that doesn't include three players, won't be included in the total count.
